Coach Jones definitely exceeded my expectations. There was nothing in his CV that made me think he’d be a good hire. But, he took over during a turbulent time and did well. If he leaves, I wish him well.

I like Coach. Idk him. But his defensive philosophy makes point guards have to look at their Coach for guidance at times. Teams just look kind of ragged ( once we learn our assignments and hustle). We had a taste of our offense “above the rim” from our last team. This year it didn’t click b/c we never got comfortable imo, this year.
My gut is that he digs it here. And I really think that The Aggie Nation is going to raid some gyms next season, with some schools being so close.

my gut is that c of c won't hire a former hbcu coach as their head coach. look at how many times moton's name has come up over the years for pwc head coaching vacancies? yet, not a single one of them have offered him...

I rarely like to be critical of our coaches in public. Correct me if i am wrong, but didn’t Coach say he wasn’t focused on winning non conference games & then wanted a NIT bid after the covid test debacle? We cannot hope for post season selection when we only focused on winning conference games.

I don't blame him one bit for clamoring for an NIT bid. He wanted to salvage any semblance of a successful season for his team. I can't fault the man for that.
As far as OOC competition, IF (and that's the key word) he says he's not interested in winning non conference games, then he ain't trying to move up. Furthermore, the last time I checked, both NCAA and NIT tourny games are against non-conference opponents. It behooves any coach to take OOC games seriously. Again, the most important word of this paragraph is "IF."
