Yeah, I got the sense he was speaking figuratively about to overall trajectory of the program. You may recall he spoke positively about the CB earlier in the interview in regards to it's current impact on our recruiting. I took it as a long-term, program building statement also.

Good interview BT. I like the vision of Coach Wash. bless the day we decline the invitation to the Celebration bowl and head into the playoffs!

We are probably the only school in the conference that believes it can legitimately contend with the top PWI schools.
The next time we are in the FCS playoffs we most likely wont be in the MEAC. I don't see the other MEAC presidents allowing the conference champion the option of declining the invite to the CB.

Great job thrilla. I wish you had drill him a little more about that defensive C job. I am convince he does not want to relinquish it totally. See if he brings those two guys up and co- defensive coordinator. He can still have control and be in the day to day play action verse if he went out here and hired a bonafide Defensive C. he would not be able to control him and be involve in the play by play action. When he said he could fully give up that Defensive job that's is not true. In my opinion he should hire a legitimate Defensive coach who shares the same ideals that he has but he does not have to be involve in the play by play action. When you are a Head coach you need to free yourself and become almost like the overseer for everything.
But again great job

Well, he admitted that he was stubborn and he wants things done a certain way.
I believe that he takes great pride in the defense that he has built here and doesn't just want to hand it over to an outsider.
The challenge is for either Coach Coard and/or Howard to show that they are capable of handling the DC job.
I get the sense that it will be a virtual Hunger Games between those two throughout spring camp, and whoever comes out on top will be named the DC in the fall.

Also, I think that since Broadway never micro-managed him during his time as DC, Washington will probably give that same freedom to his assistants.
He just wants to make a sure that they can handle the role.

Good interview BT. I like the vision of Coach Wash. bless the day we decline the invitation to the Celebration bowl and head into the playoffs! You won’t see that happening unless the FCS playoffs is coming with a big check...or we move to another conference. Which I doubt as well. I don’t think our alumni would be cool with ending up like TSU...or pulling a Hampton and playing a bunch of school we have no ties to.

The significance of the JSU game is larger now. He'll have us ready.
