A&T's Brandon Parker focusing small to prepare for NFL Draft By Brant Wilkerson-New bwilkerson-new@greensboro.com
There are a few lessons in life that a man must only learn one time, and unfortunately for Brandon Parker, he learned one of them before the biggest job interview of his life back in February at the NFL Scouting Combine. Parker, N.C. A&T’s former All-American left tackle, decided to grab some fast food and wound up being forced to sit out the bench press. “I had some Chipotle and it didn’t sit well,” Parker said, laughing. His second run at impressing NFL scouts easily got off to a better start on Monday morning when he walked into A&T’s weight room sporting his familiar smile and managed 21 repetitions on the bench press, surpassing the 20-rep standard for linemen in combine-style testing. “It feels good,” Parker said. “The Combine went pretty good – I’d like it to have gone a little better.” Among the other Aggies participating in drills were Khris Gardin, Trey Scott, Jeremy Taylor and Marcus Albert -- the most athletic of the bunch -- but Parker was the main draw for representatives from 17 different NFL franchises, including Oakland Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie. At 6-7, 300 pounds, Parker has the size to be a prototypical tackle at the next level, and his production at A&T matched up, with three straight first-team All-MEAC and offensive line selections in blazing a trail for one of the best rushing offenses in FCS. Parker is prominently featured here...How draft analysts view the top FCS prospectsBy CRAIG HALEY STATS FCS Senior Editor Updated April 19, 2018
(STATS) - If NFL draft analysts agree on one thing - and sometimes it's only one thing - South Dakota State tight end Dallas Goedert will be the first FCS player selected in this year's draft.
After Goedert is selected in likely the first or second round, the way it plays out could go in many directions, but most signs point to this being a good year for draftable FCS talent.
In the last 10 years, the FCS has averaged 18 selections, with the 24 in 2008 the high and last year's 15 tying for the low.
Below, three leading draft evaluators of the FCS provided their top 15 prospects to STATS. The draft will be held April 26-28 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas...

Local Charlotte CBS station had a great report on Parker and his chances of getting drafted by the Carolina Panthers. The reporter interviewed Parker in Aggie Stadium during Pro Day and asked how he felt about possibly being drafted by the Panthers. Parker handled the interview perfectly! After the interview the reporter mentioned that this was an example of how a player that did not receive scholarship offers from the major colleges went to a smaller college and made the best of his opportunities.
Great coverage for A&T!

wow, looking at that picture of parker being weighed, he needs to put on more "muscle" if he's to make it in the nfl... My wife's nephew, Taylor Moton is an offensive tackle that was drafted in the second round last year by the Carolina Panthers. He's 6'5" and now 310 pounds and he's not all muscle either. You're not going to find many "6 packs" on offensive linemen. Not saying Parker couldn't use more muscle but the NFL is more interested in what weight you can lift and how fast you can move that weight rather than what you look like with your shirt off.

OSA I can agree but one thing I have learned in my years around the game is O - lineman can not be judged by Optics . From what I have seen on Mr Parker is he is about in the middle of the pack when it comes to size and strength . Optics have more to do with his genetic make up in his family . Also who ever drifts Mr Parker will do and over all assessment of him again and to be truthful there are a lot of players in the NFL that at first Glance you would not think they are in the League .
