DL Darrell Hamilton and "Red Shirt" freshman DB Chris Johnson both from Detroit, my not be let back on A&T's football team this up coming season. It was reported to me that Hamilton has had some on-going domestic violence with his girl friend that has resulted in police involvement. If you remember he left the team last year due to the situation with his girl friend. Reports are that Chris Johnson has a 0.00 GPA, and he has been busted two times for possession of marijuana. I hope these reports are not true because both these players have the potential to help the team this upcoming season, especially Chris Johnson. But if it turns out to be true, Small has no choice but to let them go.

Do you think this may affect the decisions of the current MLK High School(Johnson's high school) recruits to attend A&T?

I doubt that very seriously. If Johnson is out of control , that's on him. We've had recruited a kid a some years back when Hayes was here, who was an all-state DB from Page who went out about a month before camp opened and he ended up doing 16 years for 2nd degree murder for leading a home invasion.
You bring in 17-18 y/o kids from all over, 25 or so each year, most of them stable and mature enough to know what they can and cannot do and how to behave. But you are going to have 3 or 4 every year that aren't and will do something completely stupid, or won't go to class, or beat on women, or whatever and they have to be let go.
No different form the regular student body in terms of percentages but it is disappointing. We all make choices in life, be it right or wrong, and we must live with the results of those choices.
