If there are any doubters still left out there, then there's no hope for you. Well deserved honor for a great young man. Shows what having the raw talent, a strong work ethic and a superb quarterback coach (Coach Barnett) behind you can accomplish.
Congratulations!

2 years ago when raynard was a redshirt freshman? never in a million years would i have predicted that before he graduates that he'd even become an meac poy "candidate", much less actually win the meac poy. and, i don't blame my judgement of talent on my opinion of him at that time, raynard really was very "shakey" as a qb back then. so what's so impressive to me is how much this young man has "improved" since then. i mean, back then, he was "indecisive" and appeared to lack confidence in himself at times. even "early" last season he lost his starting job to "femi" of all people (now let that soak in for a moment) after the kent state game and that alone shows how far this young man has come since then. i think the light came on for raynard during the norfolk game last year (2016) which was 5 games into the season. ever since then, dude has been playing "lights out" football until he went down with that season ending injury. but he came back "stronger" this year. so this meac poy award was not some kind of a charity case that was just "given" to him. no, the reason raynard got this award is because dude absolutely "earned it"! its a testament to how much hard work this young man has put to improve his craft, a tremendous "work ethic". so congratulations to lamar raynard!! you've had a truly outstanding season, but we still have some unfinished business to take care of in atlanta. so enjoy the moment! but after that, get back to work young man...

NEW YORK CITY - North Carolina A&T State quarterback Lamar Raynard and South Carolina State linebacker Darius Leonard were named the 2017 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year, respectively. And that was without fully unleashing him. Imagine if we'd just let'r rip all year...
I think it's safe to say we all knew he was officially gonna be the best we ever had about four plays into the GW game this year.
Congrats!

Personally, he showed promise back to his days at HP Andrews. I always thought he had the tools to succeed. It's hard to develop as a complete QB when the offense over the past 3-4 years was geared around the greatest RB the conference has ever seen.
.....and we still haven't seen the best of Raynard.

Raynard Named MEAC Offensive Player of the Year Courtesy: NC A&T Sports Information
Release: 12/05/2017
GREENSBORO (December 5, 2017) – It is another year and another Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year award for a North Carolina A&T Aggie football player. The name of the Aggie the award belongs to in 2017 is Lamar Raynard (6-foot-4, 200, quarterback, High Point, NC). It is the fifth time in seven seasons an Aggie claimed the award. Raynard joins running backs Mike Mayhew (2011) and Tarik Cohen (2014, ‘15, ‘16) as Aggies who have won offensive player of the year in the conference under head coach Rod Broadway. Raynard is the first N.C. A&T quarterback to be named offensive player of the year since Connell Maynor earned the honor in 1991. He is the fourth quarterback in school history to win MEAC Offensive Player of the Year, joining Maynor (1990, ‘91), Alan Hooker (1986) and Ellsworth Turner (1976). Other MEAC Offensive Player of the Year award winners include wide receiver Willie Wright (1971), running back George Ragsdale (1975) and running back Maurice Hicks (2001). Being that I live in High Point, I was very surprised to learn that Raynard didn't receive many offers... I assumed that he received several offers but chose NC A&T, as well as Cartwright. But no matter how he got here, he has delivered, and now has become the player of the year (well deserved I might add). Congratulations!!!

Raynard, Leonard named MEAC players of the year
By CRAIG HALEY STATS FCS Senior Editor (STATS) - After being named the MEAC's top players on Tuesday, North Carolina A&T quarterback Lamar Raynard and South Carolina State linebacker Darius Leonard were anxious to share how playing football has impacted their lives. Raynard was named the MEAC offensive player of the year, while Leonard earned defensive player of the year for the second consecutive season. "Basically for me, it's a team sport," Raynard said. "No one man can get the job done. You're going to have to come in as a collective group and work each and every day to produce. I feel like that's what we did this year." "One play," Leonard said, "it doesn't just take one guy scoring a touchdown, it takes all 11 guys scoring a touchdown or it takes all 11 guys making one tackle. So I think the team unity is actually what I learned from football." The MEAC's head coaches and sports information directors didn't have a difficult assignment with their selections for players of the year. Raynard, a junior, leads the MEAC in eight statistical categories, including passing yards (2,707), touchdown passes (26) and passing efficiency (171.6). He's helped guide the seventh-ranked Aggies to an 11-0 record, the conference title and a berth in the Air Force Reserve Celebration Bowl on Dec. 16.
