Carver trio is headed to N.C. A&T

The N.C. A&T offensive standouts might look a lot similar to Carver's in a few years with three of the Yellowjackets' most explosive offensive players signing with the Aggies last week.
Quarterback Herb Miller, running back Shaun Moore and receiver Fred McClure all signed national letters of intent to play football for N.C. A&T next fall. Moore didn't officially sign his letter because he originally committed to play for Southern University in Louisiana, but he said that he realized A&T was the place for him after actually thinking about it.
"I thought I was going to Southern," Moore said, "but I realize that A&T is the place for me - not just for football. I'm interested in becoming a mechanical engineer. A&T is an engineering school, and I really liked the campus when I went up there."
And it doesn't hurt that N.C. A&T is a lot closer to Winston-Salem than Southern University or any of the other choices Moore might have made.
"Southern is really too far for me," Moore said. "I liked the campus, but it was just too far. I can't deal with being so far from my family right now. I didn't like that plane ride either. My grandmother also gets to see me play at A&T. That's important to me."
Moore, Miller and McClure feel that the future is bright for the Aggies, especially with them on the team for the next four years.
"Oh, A&T is getting ready to really be on the map with us over there," Moore said. "They were good before, but we are going to make them better. Hopefully, we can help the team get some hardware before it's over."
McClure added: "We're going to try to make it like Carver again. I'm going to do my best to help us have the best season I can when I get the chance."
The players seem to like the atmosphere at A&T too.
"I love the atmosphere at A&T," McClure said. "It's like Carver. It feels like a family atmosphere over there."
Miller added: "Yeah, it's going to feel like home, so I'm definitely ready to get up there and do what I can. Right now, I'm just trying to get in and secure a spot. If I can help the team right away, that's great. But I'm just trying to make the team. I think they're going to redshirt me. That will also be good for me. It's just special to have this opportunity."
Carver head football coach Keith Wilkes agreed.
"This is very special," Wilkes said. "This is a blessing for all of those guys. They're very lucky to be getting an opportunity to play in college. I hate it that we couldn't send them off with a state championship, but this is more powerful than a state championship."
