I think we all are thankful for these young men being apart of our program. But honestly until this collection can win games, all this AAU and highlight reels mean nothing to the Aggie faithful. Nothing against the post or the players, just the feel of the board right now

i'm a lot more "low key" about our men's program nowadays. but i've got to admit, i luv me some "jalen spicer"! its just something about "speed and quickness" along with "athleticism" that always gets my attention. yes, he's very undersized. but that would not have stopped me from giving him a scholarship just like joyner did!
no, i don't think he's a quote/unquote, "franchise player". and yes, he may have a few problems defensively because of his size. but heck, he brings so much "energy" to a team and i like that. reminds me of former aggie basketball player, marc hill, a little bit. they're both about the same size and marc hill had "immediate impact" as a true freshman, and i think spicer will have immediate impact too...

Love Spice and Langley, but you can't play both of them together. Question becomes can we keep them both for 4 years.
kam is what? about 6'2" tall? shoot, fortunately we play in the meac and not the acc or big east because in the meac, you can actually get away with having a 5'9" pg in the back court with a 6'2" shooting guard. maybe not on a full time basis, but depending on matchups, certainly in the meac they can play together in the same back court over an extended amount of time. what coach wouldn't like to have 2 guards in his back court who both have legit pg skills?
to me, langley looks more like a "combo guard" than spicer does. so i can see langley playing the "2" whenever spicer is in the game with him, just like roy williams using joel berry with marcus page or joel berry with nate britt at unc. and if joyner needs to go to a taller lineup, he can easily move langley over to the pg position and bring in a taller 2 guard.
just my observation from watching their videos? but i think spicer and langley are "compatible" with each other, it would be very difficult to full court press a&t with both of them in the game at the same time. clearly langley can play the 2 guard position in the meac on a full time basis if he wanted to, whereas spicer is probably too small to do that. and playing the 2 guard doesn't mean he'd have to neglect his pg skills. so i can see them both on the floor at the same time, especially in the meac. hopefully playing time will not be an issue for either of them...

shooting is neither one's strong point. both are pass first PG's.
ouch!! i hear ya. then in that case, both of them would have to put in a lot of work on their "j's" this summer. the way the game is being played nowadays, all guards must be able to knock down the "3" on a consistent basis which is something that can definitely be "developed". just takes proper "conditioning" and a whole lot of "reps".
hey, john wall couldn't buy a jump shot at all when he first came to the league. i mean, he was so dependent on getting to the rim, he never took the time to develop a respectable jump shot in college. magic johnson didn't have a jump shot either when he first came to the league. but they both "developed" very respectable outside shooting skills in a very short amount of time by putting in the hard work over the summer and that's what spicer and langley will have to do.
all great shooters have to "put in the work", even steph curry has to "put in the work". so if i'm coach joyner, i'd give spicer and langley the keys to corbett over the summer and i'd have them jacking up at least 1,000 jumpers per day (for "muscle memory"), plus get those "legs" in tip top shape. if they do those 2 things, they won't have any problems knocking down the outside "j" on a consistent basis...

We'll switch gears for a bit and post some information on our transfers who sat out last year. The first is Aaren Edmead, a 5'10" PG from Deer Park, NY who transferred from Wagner in the Northeastern Conference (D1 mid-major). He has 2 years remaining.

Thanks for reminding us about the transfers...I heard about them every time we lost another game last season. And we lost a lot! In fact, I got the feeling that the reason we didn't get rid of our coach last year (other than not having the money to eat his contract) was that these "transferring players" were going to make us "respectable" this year. Now I must confess I'm more than a little skeptical that any players other than Lebron James can turn our program around, but I'm willing to take a wait and see attitude. I'll wait until we get in conference play!

wow, looks like we're gonna have more than our fair share of undersized pg's. but hey, as long as they can ball and defend at this level, no complaints from me...

The next transfer is 6'7", 205 lb SF Japhet Kadji from Cameroon by way of FL. Kadji transferred from Wagner after 2 seasons along with teammate Aaren Edmead. He and Edmead were the 6th/7th men in the Wagner rotation. Kadji is the younger brother of former Miami star and NBA 1st round pick Kenny Kadji.
Japhet also has 2 years remaining. He's a virtual ghost online, but here's a clip from 4 years ago to give a general idea of what he looks like:

Clearly he is significantly more athletic than any of the post players we had last year. It's very conceivable that other than McGowins the entire starting line up will be new names. It's even likely the entire rotation will be all new names except McGowins.
In my opinion the players are more talented but even past that..... the skill sets of all the above player profiles are significantly different than anyone that touched the floor for us last year.
It will be interesting to see if the system they run changes from last year or are these players more capable of running the off / def sets we saw last year!!!!
