Fact is we were very, very fortunate to get Cohen. Because of his small statue and I don't think he rushed for 1,000 yds his senior yr at Bunn he was overlooked. Even Broadway had to have his coat pulled because initially there was some doubt from him. No one could have predicted the success Cohen has had coming outta high school listed at 5"7' (he is not that tall) and less than 170 lbs with less than stella offensive stats coming from the RB position.
Truth is it is almost impossible to find a 4.4 dude with size and good skills and that person fall in our laps. For real, for real it's not gonna happen. A kid like that will be able to write his own ticket and it won't have A&T's name on it because the big boys will be all over him.
Cohen has some of us spoiled. Let's look at it for what it is.......he is A&T's #1 career rusher with ONE more season to go. He needs only 600+ yds to be the MEAC career rushing leader. These type of diamonds in the rough don't come often.
Cohen is a game changer...... it is unfair to expect others to have the impact that he has had or expect to find 4.4 RB's w/size at this level. If it happens....good. In my opinion he and ex- NFL RB Maurice Hicks (Aggie record 438 in ONE game)....but only played 2 yrs with us...are in a class all by themselves.

I think we are pretty much all on the same page on Johnson. It's really unfair to try to compare any recruit to Tarik Cohen. We've been spoiled these last three years and we'll all have serious withdrawals after next season.
Cohen is a one of a kind talent that comes along maybe once in 20-30 years and there's not going to be another one coming along anywhere near his level of play either now or in the foreseeable future.

Cohen is a one of a kind talent that comes along maybe once in 20-30 years and there's not going to be another one coming along anywhere near his level of play either now or in the foreseeable future. The good thing about having outstanding runners like T. Cohen (The Kid), Mo Hicks and the other gifted runners that A&T has had over the years is ,they have set the bar at a high level that may seem on reachable for any RB that follows in their footsteps ! But as it was for The Kid it will be for the other incoming RB's to pickup the mantle and run with it. I will not say that in 20 or 30 years there will be another T. Cohen because with A&T being resurrected under Broadways & staffs tenure I can see an upswing of quality athletes dawning the blue and gold (and bring around the game this long) . As it was for The Kid to surpass Mayhew it will be for another to surpass T.Cohen, (unless we totally abandon the run game) which I doubt ! As someone has stated we have been spoiled and we forget that it was the play of the O-line that allowed The Kid to obtain his yardage ,which he stated his self, and it will be the same for any running Back that we have in the future that record could and will fall at some point ! But let us not forget the young men that do the dirty work in the trenches in order for Backs to brake and set Records.

i’m a firm believer that “speed kills” and to me, that attribute is at the very top of my list for rb’s and wr’s. if i have my dreathers, i’m a “speed first” kinda guy. however, speed is not the only attribute on my list, there’s still a bevy of other attributes that are almost just as important as speed such as vision, agility, coordination, fundamentals, toughness, power, pass catching, and footwork to name a few. having said that, i think a 4.6 forty speed rb at the fcs level is not gonna typically break off too many 70, 80, or 90 yard touchdown runs like cohen does. but depending on his other attributes, very well could churn out a bunch of 20 and 30 yard bursts more frequently than just a speed guy. shoot, mike mayhew wasn’t blazing fast but had two or three 1,000 yard plus rushing seasons. mike ferguson wasn’t very fast either and he too had 1,000 yard rushing seasons at a&t. so i wouldn’t say 4.6 speed is such a bad thing, but he’d better have strong attributes in other areas if he’s gonna cut it at the fcs level... Savion Johnson is a runner ,has good footwork ,tough runner in side , cuts or sharp I like him. He needs to learn how to get small on the inside (runs high a little bit to much)but keeps his feet moving off of tacklers good vision and runs of his blocks and sets them up on his runs. www.hudl.com/athlete/2270166/highlights/289515379/v3 I'm saying this Savion Johnson will play as a Fr no RS for this young man Remember I told you ! saabman, i'm just getting home from refereeing my basketball game and finally got a chance to watch johnson's video. i have "3" words to describe what i saw. man amongst boys!!

I WAS NOT IMPRESSE WITH THE WILLIAMS KID. if there's any chance that cartwright returns to the team, all of my concerns for an incoming running back will be solved. cartwright is "proven", he showed us what he can do when he was a true freshman in 2014. he would "easily" become another 1,000 yard aggie rusher if he returned...

I just watched Johnson's tape. I'm not down on the kid. He looks like a good pickup. I like his vision and lateral movement. He's definitely a pace changer type RB. BUT.... them jokers were terrible tacklers. Terrible.

We will see if he can continue that at the next level His Father was a Back at Oklahoma State and a good one to knee injuries got his old man but Boogie was a bad man.

If Grier comes to the Blue and Gold look for him to redshirt this year. In that time he will have a chance to be an apprentice and eat a lot of double whoppers from Burger King. He is very thin.
