i think you’re right, north carolina football players are as good as any other state, including florida and texas. the only difference is that florida and texas has a larger quantity of top football players. to me, i think “fan interest” and “climate” has a lot to do with that. the more popular a sport is, the more kids want to play it. at least, that’s my take on it...

Man, that chart just got a little more suspect to me. In 2008 NC had 1 football player ranked in the top 200 in the country? I got to find some 2008 NC graduates and names some names on that. That's ridiculous.

I agree with you oleschool as far as team wise. I was speaking more about individual athletes in NC. These superpowers that these "private" schools put together in those states are ridiculous and illegal in NC for football. Especially on the eastern side of NC. Wake County(the states largest district) would never let a school grow enough before it builds another one down the road to break the schools population up. That's the difference between us and say Texas. We have 5 schools all within a 10 mile radius, while Texas has 1 school with triple the amount of students and there isn't another school for 25 miles. It's just a numbers game. Of course their teams will look better. But we produce just as many individual athletes in the college level as those states. Not true "That's the difference between us and say Texas. We have 5 schools all within a 10 mile radius, while Texas has 1 school with triple the amount of students and there isn't another school for 25 miles." Man where did you get that from...lol Who ever told you that crap must have been on crack...lol

Monster / Oldschool, I live in N. Texas and some of the area schools systems have chosen to level the playing field I live in Frisco....120,000 people with 7 high 5A high schools....The next town over which I am sure you are familiar with is Allen - one high school for over 100,000 people. Allen plays in the top Division 6A That was my point. In NC we level the playing field, No school would ever get close to that kind of student population. I myself live within a 10-12 minute drive of 5 high schools. Imagine if it was just 1 big school instead. the football team would be a small college and the stadium/facilities would have to be also. The reason Texas school systems or different is that each city is Independent from the state, unlike NC. We have what they call Independent School District systems and the city ISD decides if they will build additional high or secondary schools.

So texas doesn't have schools with over 3000 students in them? Biggest school in NC fluctuates between like 6 schools(3 in Charlotte and 3 in Wake County). They all teeter around 2500-2700. The rest of the 4AA schools stay around 1600-2400.

Yes we have some schools with over 3000 students some hitting over 4000 but they or all ISD's (Independent School Districts ) Each School District is handled by the city it is located in, Like the city of Allen pop about 100,000 has only one high school located in the city with 4,147 students . Now city of Plano,Tx (278,480 Popualtion) has 9 public high schools the biggest is Plano Sr High School W 2,627 students and 9 private high schools W Prestonwood Christian Academy being the biggest at 1,435. That is just how the school systems are set up here . Also the population of Tx is far larger then NC as is California and Florida, Larger Popualtions = larger school size = more student Athlete's to filter in to there programs .

Nice to see another Southern Guildford player commit to the Aggies. I've watch Ron his whole career at SG. I think he'll be a great addition to the offense in the coming years.

The wide outs for the future are beginning to shape up nicely with two days to go before national signing day.
