We are two weeks out and we know just a few committments. There is a theory that HBCU coaches typically keep recruits' names close to the vest for fear of another school talking them out of attending. Or to make last minute offers to recruits once they see who else is going after them. Another theory is that kids just just make their decisions on signing day still holding out for an offer from a bigger school.
For those closer to the recruiting game, what is really closer to the truth?

Or to make last minute offers to recruits once they see who else is going after them. Another theory is that kids just just make their decisions on signing day still holding out for an offer from a bigger school. For those closer to the recruiting game, what is really closer to the truth? Back when I was dealing with a lot of high school athletes(few years ago), the coaching theory is false. Coaches cant keep recruits from announcing their offers as they get them, so no need for the college coach to hide it. It's not top secret. While kids changing their minds last minute does happen, most of the time they were close to 50/50 anyway. It wasn't because another coach realized that A&T found a diamond in the rough and now they got to make a last second sales pitch. Coaches egos are too big for that. If they missed him they figure they missed him for a reason and screw the other guy. On top of that. Recruits like Cohen are rare. MOST dont turn out that way. They are mostly un-offered because they are just not worthy. I think coaches keep it close to the vest because the dont want to answer questions abouit "the one that got away" if a kid does change his mind, but not because of other schools recruited him away. No kid is going to jump ship to NCCU on a last minute phone call when A&T has been talking to him for weeks. Now an offer from an ACC school is something different(see below), but those schools already have an A-list and a B-list. You will know if your own either. As far as the kids holding out. YES, the kids want a FBS scholarship offer. If they except an offer to us or any other MEAC school this early it's because they have been getting zero love from the FBS schools and probably just want the process over with. What some dont realize about the recruiting process is that a lot of offers by FBS school are made very very early. Studs have been studs for a long time. FCS gets a lot of late bloomers that had pretty good senior seasons. Both reasons are why we(FCS) still announce recruits after signing day.

For those closer to the recruiting game, what is really closer to the truth? Most of the kids already have there minds made up way a head of time about the schools they would like to attend . That point being made in a lot of cases for 0 stars to 3 star recruits it's a waiting game to see if they will get that Big offer and if not they will go to there B list of lower level FCS D-1 programs or D-2,D-3 or NAIA programs that make them the best offer. The recruiting game has opened up so wide now that we have seen a number of Kids being recruited by Canadian and Mexican colleges to play football now . Most coaches keep there recruits close to the vest any way Especially when they find one like The Kid that has been over looked !! YOUR assessment is basically on point ,

I can guarantee if kids are getting offered by A&T and it is is public knowledge, more than likely most MEAC schools will take another look at that recruit.
I would suggest it is a combination of Coach Broadway, out CB victory and the school as a whole. I would even go as far as some FCS schools will retook that recruit....

I'm very excited to see if our success will have an impact on recruiting. Increased pipelines more recruit interest and program awareness from coaches is a good sign.

when i watched the lady aggies play hampton in basketball on espn3 this past weekend, the espn announcer interviewed hilton at half time and he asked hilton about football recruiting given that signing day is not very far away. in so many words, hilton indicated recruiting is going extremely well because of the success our program has had over the last two years. so i guess we’ll see just how valid that statement was once signing day comes...

Recruiting is going well (quote-quote). 6 or 7 2016 Aggie-leaning football recruits were in Corbett when we played Hampton. Word is bond!!!!! Note: Hope what they saw on the hardwood does not discourage them.

win or lose, totally modern facility.... none of those would have the impact that a couple of thousand hyped students could generate

I'm very excited to see if our success will have an impact on recruiting. Increased pipelines more recruit interest and program awareness from coaches is a good sign. Well don't be shocked if we see quite a few Georgia young men accept offers from us this Feb. I have heard we have been all over the place in Atlanta. I hope we landed some AAAAAA kids from Gwinnett County.
