I just hope we don't get our players and our egos too beat up in the UNC game. Those guys will be out to prove something this year (and save their coach's job) and we will catch them the week after they lose to USC. By the time we get to conference play (Oct 3 Hampton) we will have been tested. Unless we knock off UNC (really don't expect this in a million years) we will be mentally ready for conference play. To tell you the truth our schedule is really tough this year. Other than Shaw, everybody else will be a tough out. If we go undefeated in the MEAC this year, it will be a major accomplishment.
I don't think any of our players can look at this schedule and get complacent. They have to work their tails off and get some luck to win the conference this season.

bluehaze, remember under a different thread i stated that i’d rather not be the “preseason” #1 pick in the meac and that if i were coach broadway, i’d be telling my guys that “preseason predictions don’t mean jack”? and then you quoted me to say that you would tell them the exact opposite and for them to prove the predictors right? that’s why i asked, where is bluehaze because based on that video it sounds as if coach broadway just might have agreed with me or more appropriately, i should say that i agree with him... Actually that was me who said that and I still believe that. They did say that it needed to be proven "on the field", which is the common denominator in our approaches. dang! my apologies to bluehaze, i thought bluehaze was the one who said that. thanks for the correction, maxell...

Shaw has nothing to lose by losing to A&T even a close game with Tee is a win for Shaw.

As a fan, if the Shaw game is close we are in for a LONG season....

yeah, out of 12 ciaa teams, shaw is preseason predicted to finish "8th". so heck yeah that game better not be close. and by the way, wssu loss "all 11 starters" from their defense of a year ago, yet they're still predicted to win the ciaa championship. plus, they also loss their "2" starting qb's, their top 2 rb's, and also their leading wr from last year. talk about "rebuilding"! yet, they're still picked to win the ciaa championship. doesn't say a lot about the ciaa.
here's the ciaa preseason predictions;
Preseason CIAA Coaches Poll
1.WSSU 2.Virginia State 3.Virginia Union 4.Fayetteville State 5.Bowie State 6.Elizabeth City State 7.Livingstone 8.Shaw 9.Chowan 10.J.C. Smith 11.St. Aug’s 12.Lincoln (Pa.)

Yea they did. Go out and look at their roster; size wise they still look like a FCS team particularly on the d-line

WSSU picked up a number of Transfers at QB , RB & O/D line heck, they're not getting the "bcs" level of transfers they were getting when maynor and hayes were there. besides, replacing an "entire" starting defense is a major chore. plus, in terms of "chemistry", its difficult to bring in brand new players who have never played together before. not to mention that the "gap" closed last season for wssu, several ciaa teams played them tougher than in the past. should be interesting, but just know that they're no longer landing those "big name" bcs transfers like they had in the past...
