N. C. A&T will have a significant portion of its incoming 2015 freshman class dominating the East Squad roster in the annual NC East-West All-Star Game on July 22, 8:00 p.m., at Jamieson Stadium in Greensboro, NC. The Aggies placed seven selections on the East squad including Shawn Barnes (WR, E.E. Smith); Jalon Bethea (DB, Durham Hillside); Cam Moore (WR, Pamilco Co.); Micah Shaw (OL, Fayetteville 71st); Keevin Thompson (RB, Wilmington Hoggard); Calvin Trotty (DL, Overhills); and Jermaine Williams (DL, Lumberton).
The East-West All-Star Games were founded in 1949 by Coach Bob Jamieson of Grimsley High School and Smith Barrier, the Sports Editor of the Greensboro Daily News, to help finance the North Carolina Coaches Association coaching clinic. The games feature players who have just graduated from high school – the best from the Eastern half of North Carolina against the best from the West. www.highschoolot.com/area-players-selected-to-east-west-all-star-football-game/14610356/

East football is (N.C. A&T) family affair Posted: Tuesday, July 21, 2015 2:52 pm
By Joe Sirera joe.sirera@greensboro.com
GREENSBORO — This year’s East-West All-Star week has been like a family reunion for eight East football players. But the players aren’t related; they’re all part of the N.C. A&T football family. The talented group is the product of coach Rod Broadway’s emphasis on in-state recruiting and they are the future of Aggies football. To a man, they say the reason they chose A&T was how close the players and coaches are. “It was a family atmosphere,” said Durham Hillside cornerback Jalon Bethea. “I had a lot of other offers, but none of them had the feel of A&T.” It’s no accident that Broadway’s program has that feel. “It’s how we do things,” the Aggies’ coach said. “We’re a team. We’re not separate from the players and the players are not separate from the coaches. We’re all in this thing together and that’s how we treat our guys. We are a big family and we try to take care of our kids, and we hope our kids take care of us by going to class and doing the right things off the field. Eight members of the East squad in Wednesday night’s East-West All-Star football game at Jamieson Stadium are headed to N.C. A&T to play for the Aggies. No. 13 Cameron Moore, S, Pamlico County
No. 18 Shawn Barnes Jr., WR, Fayetteville Smith
No. 29 Jalon Bethea, DB, Durham Hillside
No. 36 Keevin Thompson, RB, Wilmington Hoggard
No. 40 Jermaine Williams, DL, Lumberton
No. 55 Calvin Trotty, DL, Spring Lake Overhills
No. 60 Sylvester Smith, DL, Wilmington Hoggard
No. 78 Micah Shaw, DL, Fayetteville 71st
