While I do think this is a big deal, I want to know if we're ranked in the FCS polls? It's ok to be the best team in black football, but I want us to be one of the best teams in all of FCS.

If we continue too build a strong solid football program and keep the academics in order we may well become one of the best teams in the FCS. But A&T must remember the two are as one and the fans must remember that all great things take time. Their is no easy way too greatness . Aggie love.

Rankings rankings rankings. Sigh
They don't matter, other than us getting into the playoffs. We were ranked 16th and beat the #1 ranked team in the first round of the playoffs in 1999. And then got walloped the following week.
No matter where we are or aren't ranked, it won't mean an thing if we lose. I understand that your ranking will determine where you are seeded come playoff time, but you actually have to make the playoffs number one, and no matter what we do at this point if we don't lose another game we will be in Conway playing a team that will be far more prepared for us than they were the first time.
So I just shrug my shoulders and worry about Morgan. All the other stuff is window dressing.

as a fan, its really cool to be ranked #1 over your hbcu peers. yeah, i know polls don't really mean very much, but from a fan's perspective it says a lot about how others view our football program and that's what so gratifying to me.
getting at least a share of the meac championship this year is more important to me than the polls. yet, at the same time, i remind myself how it felt back in the day when we were in the midst of that embarrassing 27 game losing streak. so i take a great deal of “pride” in being ranked #1 amongst hbcu’s because back during the streak, we couldn’t even dream of being ranked “at all”, much less #1 in any poll anywhere.
so i’m glad we’re ranked #1 but its only for us fans to enjoy, not the coaches and players. our coaches and players must remain focused on the task at hand which is to take one game at a time and solely focus on the opponent that stands before us each game...

www.ncaa.com/rankings/football/fcsY'all know I could care less about the HBCU poll. If you look at the FCS coaches poll, there are a good number of 3-4 loss teams on it (8 total). There is a lot of wiggle room for us to move up and into the top 25. With the playoffs now at 24 teams, I really like our chances. I see our focused team finishing 10-2. Afterwards, I see us playing Richmond in round 1, with the winner playing Coastal Carolina in Conway. If we keep focused and keep winning, we will break new ground THIS YEAR.....

They are 7-0 and probably run the table so I am pretty sure they want change up to much...On the other hand we have several more off weapons that have developed between know and that Costal game

We don't need to "look forward" 2 playing Coastal--we DID NOT beat them Before and Won't beat them if given a 2nd Shot(UNfortunately).I just want Anybody in playoff Opportunity.

I disagree about that. The passing game wasn't really a factor in that game, other than keeping Coastal honest. It was Quick (3 TDs rushing) and Cohen (1 TD) that kept us in the game. Now that the passing game is clicking, every team (including Coastal) will have a lot on their plate to stop every phase of our offense with Quick at QB. The only way to neutralize us is to knock Quick out of the game. That's my biggest fear.

As I have been stating, DSU and FAMU slowed him down but, they couldn't stop the offense because, we now have a young man name Keyes in the mix offensively. If any team tries to cover him man-to-man that is a mis-match...then you take the 8th man back out the box and that frees Cohen for running lanes. This is the most diverse offense I've seen at A&T and they have not reached no where near the ceiling. I think if we don't stumble, we will be a tough out for any team in FCS with the exception of N. Dakota State...who I think is a legit D-IA team.

i dunno, i'd luv to see our aggies in the playoffs. but i think we're a long way away from being a legitimate top 5 fcs team. honestly, i don't even think coastal carolina is a legit top 5 fcs team. they haven't played top notch fcs competition most of the season and their ranking is primarily based on their record. i think villanova would stomp a mudhole in coastal if they played and several other top 10 fcs teams would too.
that being stated, i think we would have big problems in the playoffs except maybe in the first round depending upon who we draw (if we make it). and the reason i say that is because our d-line is very talented, but they're also very "small" relative to the top fcs teams in the country. i think our d-line beats meac teams with their quickness and fundamentals, whereas the top fcs teams would probably play "smash mouth" against our d-line.
i think most fcs hbcu's lose playoff games at the line of scrimmage. i think our skilled players can compete with anybody, but we have to get a little bit bigger and stronger down in the trenches if we're gonna have some success in the playoffs. gotta remember, no hbcu has won an fcs playoff game since 1999 except tennessee state last year against a "non-scholarship" butler team...

Most of what I hearing is based on recent weeks against the likes of FAMU and DSU. This level of performance skews the perception of potential playoff readiness. We haven't beaten a team with a winning record yet and may not play one the rest of the season. Our conference wins are against teams that are 5-12 (.294) in the conference and 7-26 (.212) overall. I can include ALA&M and Elon in here two but that just makes it uglier.
The playoffs appear to be a significant step up for MEAC teams. Not so much in talent, though there are some overall deficiencies between some teams. In my opinion the biggest issues are in organization, preparation, and discipline. Discipline is not restricted to just the players. Coaches have to maintain an emotional and logical balance on game day.
Granted we have left a lot of points on the bus, but that's my point. If we were knocking teams out 55-0 week in and week out, I would probably be talking playoffs too. This team has gotten better each week, a new wrinkle here, a new player there, but has the defense run up against a precision strike force or did we have elbow receivers like Howard. Can we really stop the run when we go to Richmond on a cold damp day in November? I can probably come up with similar analogies for our passing game. BTW there is now film on that. The goal is to get better every week, the playoffs will take care of themselves.

I never said we win the whole thing...but some of what you say is somewhat relative, while beat DSU and FAMU, we beat pretty soundly. Everyone got upset about the DSU game because we put 2nd teamers in and made mistakes instead of leaving the starters in and running up the score.
I think we are playoff ready right now...will we win it all, no. But, we have the talent to make some noise. We actually match up well with Coastal. ..it's only one team in the fcs that can overwhelm all the others and that N. DAKOTA ST.
I say we'd lose because absolutely no playoff experience in 15 years. ..that matters too. But, if we can get in and gain some experience, next year we'd be in good shape.
