A lot of the players SC State gets would have trouble getting into A&T.

The admissions requirements aren't relatively the same?
I know that SC Steat isn't as rigorous a school as Ayantee. I have heard that from SEVERAL people who attended both schools. But Ayantee was always known as pretty easy to get into, especially if you're in-state. Getting out was the problem.
I understand the desire to pooh pooh another school when they seem to be outdoing us in one area or another, but really? A kid has an easier time gaining admission to SC Steat as an out-of-state student than he would to Ayantee as an in-state student? That stretches the limits of the imagination. Now if the athletic dept has different admissions criteria, that explains it.
If Steat is taking at risk players, shouldn't they be in some APR trouble at some point if they haven't already? If they haven't, what are they doing that the rest of the conference isn't/wasn't? Other than being an easier school of course.

Are we looking at the same pages? The math requirements are the same. And Ayantee doesn't seem to require electives while Steat does.
Ayantee:
Mathematics – 4 units: Mathematical course units must include Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II and one of the following Advanced Mathematics courses: AP Calculus A/B AP Calculus B/C AP Statistics Pre-Calculus (formerly Advanced Math) Discrete Mathematics Integrated Mathematics IV Advanced Functions and Modeling IB Mathematics Level II
Steat:
Mathematics 4 units (Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, and Algebra III, Trigonometry, Precalculus, Calculus, Statistics, or Discrete Mathematics or capstone mathematics)

The one subtle difference is the "capstone" mathematics course for SCSU being an option for the 4th math. That's a combo of Algebra, Geometry and Algebra II. The Integrated Mathematics IV requirement for the UNC system rolls Pre-Calculus into it, so you don't get away from the advanced math requirement. A lot of states allow the capstone course, but that won't fly in the UNC system....it has to be an advanced math.

Ah, a subtle difference indeed.
So you think the additional math course is why these kids are going "south of the border?"
Next question, are the requirements less for the d-2 state schools, or are they just state requirements period?

I think SC States SAT/ACT requirements are also less stringent than A&T's.

This brings some questions to my mind.
Are these Steat vs. Ayantee requirements or NC vs SC requirements?
And I know I asked this earlier, but has Steat ever been in APR trouble?
Waaaaay off topic here, but my curiosity has been piqued.

Next question, are the requirements less for the d-2 state schools, or are they just state requirements period? Buddy Pough is no dummy.... he's just not a dynamic offensive mastermind. He's probably well aware of our requirements vs. South Carolina and has been selling the difference for years.... if I was him, at least. I think his recruiting results speak to that. Here's WSSU's requirements: www.wssu.edu/admissions/admission-requirements/freshman-applicants/requirements.aspxThey are virtually the same as ours. They don't explicitly what is/isn't an advanced math, but I would venture to say that it's the same. If you see my re-post regarding the basketball recruit we lost.... this advanced math thing has gotten us in the past. It's why we have to reach out to kids earlier. The workout camps are a big plus in that regard... not to mention any bump we can give in the recruiting budget.

I'm going through the college search with my daughter who's a high school senior and the difference seems to be state requirements when you compare the public universities. Private schools are about the same. Buddy deserves a lot of credit for keeping less academically skilled kids qualified.
The thing that puzzles me is how is State's enrollment declining with easier requirements?
