I would have to disagree. You'll have 4 qb's in camp during the spring. Two seniors, Sophomore, and a red-shirt freshman. Right now, we need to sure up speed to replace Desmond, as well as maybe a JC transfer that can sure up the middle.

Keep in mind Foster got injured and there is no way of knowing if his arm will ever be right. We have to think ahead. QB is absolutely the single hardest skill position to fill and everyone needs to have one in the hole to redshirt to guard against injury like this year because if Quick can't make it back right away its two true freshmen, Klugh and then Raynard the rest of the year.

Agree with A1, plus this kid appears to be the kind of player that more fits the mold of Quick. That dual threat seems to fit or current personnel, with these athletic lineman that can get out in space, pull, and create lanes on they perimeter, for our skill positions. I think that actually bodes well for us offensively when thinking about advancing in the playoffs. Each time we have been with a traditional pro style offense we have struggled to score because of lack of size on the OL. And skilled positions not being able to get open. I believe this zone read option attack will give us a decided advantage when taking on this fcs playoff opponents, it will accentuate our strengths, speed and athleticism, and keep defenses on their heels. I know I got off subject, but the after seeing what could be possible offensively with Quick, makes me like this guy.
On an aside, the season Quick was having sort of reminded me when Randall Rankins was finally given the starting nod in his senior year, and was balling up until the Morgan state hands in Baltimore when he tore up his knee ending his season and ours. The difference here is though we now have depth.
I'm done, whew.

I thought about Rankins too. Only thing is, he was a junior. He'd have had another year but didn't have enough hours to go into his senior year (shoot, might've been his junior year) without summer school. The staff told him his summer school would be paid for based on what they'd been told. He showed up for summer school, no money. No classes. No eligibility. He left school and went to Greensboro College.
So you never know what'll happen. So more depth is a good thing. Many schools that run an offense that requires a qb to run a lot bring in as many as they can and put them on the field somewhere.
To me you should never overlook a good player that you can get whether you need them or not. If we had 10 qbs on roster and this kid was better than eight of them before setting a foot on campus, we'd be crazy not to take him.

I'm in agreement that you get the best player that you can at any position.

For this particular scenario, Foster is still here and doesn't look to be going anywhere. So, if I were a kid that's being recruited, I'd look at this situation and see that I may not play for a few years compared to going elsewhere and playing sooner than later. We need to become a program that's builds and develops solid QBs, not manages them.
Just my thoughts!

If you look at SDSU they have not put one QB in the show and they have had some great one's. But lineman they have a number. Look at this point I feel that the O and D Lineman are what we need to move to that next level and should be the focus. We have 4 young QB's a 5th right now I can't feel that right now. But we do need bigger and taller Lineman on both side's of the ball.

In order for us to be "dominant" in which Coach B says we will be in a year with another full recruiting class, we have to win the war in the trenches. We are getting there with our freshman on the O-line, but we should build around them. It doesn't matter who the QB will be in the future if they do not have time to operate, (ex. McGhee - Howard QB).

i think we already have the "size" and athleticism on our o-line, but they're just young and need maturity. however, our d-line is very small, but they're also very quick and have extremely good fundamentals. that's good enough to compete in the meac, but a team like north dakota state would "smash mouth" our d-line because we're small.
but don't get me wrong, i like our d-line, they definitely get the job done in the meac and against our ooc foes. but in the playoffs against the best teams in the country, i think we'll need to bulk up our d-line somewhat. i think its just a matter of time before our o-line is playoff ready, we already have the size and athleticism there...

Was in New Bern last weekend, met the middle linebacker for the No. 1 team. Said he's being recruited by A&T. Kid is pretty tough but only 5'11.

Cohen is only 5'6. If he can play, he can play.

I understand you number 1 team had to hang on against my Hornets...but, New Bern's linebacking corps is good as anybody's if not better.
I'd like to throw out the invitation to all coaches, especially ours (A&T) to come watch my daughter's high school (Frederick Douglass High, Md.) who made the championship game this Saturday in the Baltimore Ravens Stadium at 7pm. They have some very good talent on this team...one guy in particular whose a freak of nature. Kid is 6-4 and 210-225 DE...he's a monster, just a sophomore though.
And another FYI...didn't know that Shawn Merriman (Former DE of San Diego Chargers) is an alum of Douglass as well. He's been in attendance of several games as well.
