There's a spring in the steps for A&T's football team Posted: Wednesday, March 26, 2014 5:42 pm
GREENSBORO — Rod Broadway never thought he’d be this excited about spring practices. Tucked away behind Aggie Stadium, for the first time since the spring of 2011, N.C. A&T’s football team is practicing. The Aggies are closing in on their 10th spring practice and have been practicing since the beginning of March. “This is my 35th year (coaching) and probably 40 years of spring practices, and other than the last couple of years we haven’t really missed them,” said Broadway, A&T’s head football coach. “But I really missed them, because it gives you an opportunity to teach, and that’s the thing that we’ve missed. And those are things that hurt us late in ball games last year where we weren’t as sound fundamentally as we should be.” N.C. A&T’s football program was without a spring game for many years because, beginning in 2008, it was mired in Academic Progress Rate penalties that resulted in a reduction of scholarships, practice time and postseason bans. APR sanctions also limited the Aggies to 56.7 scholarships in 2009, 44.58 in 2010 and 45.83 in 2011. Last season, the NCAA allowed the team the full FCS allotment of 63 scholarships and 30 initial scholarships for the first time but levied a postseason ban. Did they practice again yesterday? If so, how did they look. The last report I got said Quick was looking good as QB...any additional reports?

Yes they did practice yesterday and Quick is still way ahead of all the other QB's. The kid Frankie is looking better everyday. He may end up being a pretty good QB for us. Femi also looked good throwing the ball yesterday. I hope they all improve so we will have some real competition at QB come fall camp. Our DL is really looking good. They are probably our biggest strength right now. I was told that we will have another scrimmage on Sat. morning. The last scrimmage was at about 9:30am.

I still think foster will be our man Broadway like to have fun with the media. No disrespect but if quick is our starting qb. Our season is pretty much over before its get started. You got to have a qb who will pass first run second. He is to one dimensional

Quick looked really good last Saturday and appears to be hungry for the starting role.

You have to have a QB that can think on his feet. If Quick is a run 1st type let him be. They said the same thing about M. Vick when he was in college to and he had the same OC. It is up to the OC to fit the Offense to the QB not the other way around. Look at TXA&M & NDSU their offense are fitted to show case their QB's strong points .

In the right scheme, he can be a very good QB. We have to put him in the offense he's comfortable with.

I agree with daddyaggie. Quick has the skill set to be a decent quarterback in this league.
Our coaches were just married to Kindle over the last two years and didn't work hard enough to exploit his strengths.

DB's look good so far but it will take seeing them play in a real game to make a good assessment. From what I have seen in practice they should be pretty good.
