How can we allow a coach not coach a game to go to Puerto an recruit during the season? He had a player to quit in his senior year and kick two players off the team for non-sense. He need to be fired from the A&T family. Program is going down.

A&T does not care about baseball. Or else they would have just kept Shumate and increased his resources.

Just let the man coach his team his way. It takes time to build a program and if going to Puerto to recruit during the season to get that right player or players so be it. I do know this most of your Latino players and their families respond better to the Head coach then one of his assistants.

As a former Aggies baseball player, I am all for giving him sufficient time to develop the program and letting Coach Sanchez establish his own pipeline of talent.

Yeh, this has been a sub-par season for Aggie baseball but Sanchez hasn’t even completed his 2nd year. My guess is he has the standard 3 year contract? Let him finish bringing his guys in, and then evaluate him.
Sam1, we are smart enough to know that there are always two sides to a story. Also, if you aren’t providing any factual details then there’s little reason to take your statements seriously.

i agree sanchez deserves a little more time. but the problem i'm having is that things are getting worse, not better. central just started their baseball program a couple of years ago and they've already caught and passed us.
to me, if things don't start heading in the right direction by next year, it might be time to make a change. however, if our baseball budget is not on par with the rest of the meac, then that needs to be corrected before we go on a hiring blitz...

If you say give him time. There are plenty of good players around in the area. Why bring a guy in that cannot speak in English and don't stay but one year at A&T. That's a wasted scholarship. He also didn't attend in the alumni game.

Now I see your problem sam31. lol "Why bring a guy in that cannot speak in English and don't stay but one year at A&T"..lol Look past that and just let the man coach his team. If the powers that be have no problem with sanchez going to PR on his dime who are we to say he can't go. Also so what if they can't speak English are Good English, hale most of us can't speak good English anyway..lol As long as they can play ball.

If you say give him time. There are plenty of good players around in the area. Why bring a guy in that cannot speak in English and don't stay but one year at A&T. That's a wasted scholarship. He also didn't attend in the alumni game. Let me start off by saying I don't know much about baseball and I've only attended two A&T baseball games in my life. And in the A&T games I attended we didn't play well at all! That said, I say give the coach more time to build his team. As for a player quitting, heck that will happen. Until we have the "transcripts" of the conversation that went down, I'm giving the coach the benefit of doubt. As for recruiting foreign ball players, hell that's what everyone is doing. I've seen enough sports special on TV to know that there are tons of talented baseball players in Latin countries. As far as recruiting talented ball players locally, there's too much competition for the few good players out there. Now these next comments will be a bit negative but it needs to be discussed...go to a few local high school ball games and see who the stars are. Most of the players and talented athletes on the baseball team are white. Now why there are not more brothers playing baseball is a topic for another day. You may find a few brother but very few. And the chances of us getting one of those talented white guys to play at A&T is next to impossible. And if the few brothers on the team have real talent, they will be heavily recruited by ACC or SEC schools too. Now I think we should continue to recruit "all" talented baseball players but we also need to be realistic too. If our coach can find some winning players that English is their second language, I ain't mad at him.

I don't have a dog in this fight. My question is, if they were in 1st place, would it have been ok? If it was Cy or Terrell who missed a game to go recruiting, would it be ok? Just a thought...

to me, as far as missing a game in order to recruit, i don’t really don't have a problem with that because he’s trying to help the team get better. but if he was just playing hookie for non-baseball or non-imminent family reasons, then i’d have a problem with that...

Are you sure he went to Puerto Rico? 1.) Puerto Rico is not a foreign country, but a U.S. territory, 2.) though Spanish is probably the preferred language, English is also the official language. I don't know why he went when he went, but I do think he better make a stop in the Dominican Republic also, and if he can get in Cuba he better stop there also.
Do U.S. territories (Puerto Rico, Guam, the Virgin Islands, etc.) get a special exemption on out-state tuition?
