I just got home from the game (well, 10 minutes ago but had to holler at the contractors working on the crib).
I'm just disappointed. That's all I can say.

Dooms, you were at the game, please tell us the play calling and coaching wasn't as bad as it sounded on the radio.

How do you call running plays when you have to go 65 yards in less than 2 minutes with no timeouts?
I mean, how is that even a consideration?

I don't know how it sounded on the radio so I really can't say.
I can tell you I'm still numb. There are question marks floating over the paper bag on my head. I'm literally so confused my wife just patted me on the head and left the room without saying anything.
I was so confused my mouth hung open for over a minute. Dr. Freeze saved me by calling me. I had to close my mouth when I said "Maaannnneeee..."
I'm going to de-confuse myself now and rationalize. Are you ready?
This is only the second close game we've had in the coaching staff's career. You don't learn these things overnight. Some guys have been in these situations a hundred times and therefore they're good at them. We're not there yet. We just froze.
For some reason, I still don't really feel better.

I agree. Guess who is holding those same positions. 2 run plays with 65 yds to go, no time out? ?

But Dooms, we were in a similiar situation just two weeks ago. I don't expect mastery in two weeks, but I do expect a improvement (even a little). We handled it worse tonight than we did against NCCU.

I was at the game and the play calling was sorry! There was a guy sitting in front of me from SCSU whom said A&T could pass all day on Morgan because their corners couldn't check our receivers. And sure enough, that's when Shelton connected with Caldwell on that 96 yard bomb. Our defense comes through and we get the ball back again, but Fobbs put Herb in for that running crap and we go 3 and out! My biggest disappointment was when we should have been passing the ball, we try that shotgun draw play that Morgan had snuffed out because we ran it so many times. And with 1:51 left on the clock, you don't come with any running plays, cause you don't have time for that crap. With all that said, Ferguson is one of the best running backs in the conference.

I'm starting to wonder if he actually called that play or if we just ended up running it...

I don't know, but it was just sorry! But our defense played a good game...we just haven't learned how to close the deal!

Dooms I think you are right. This is once again illustrates the problem with the HC being the OC. Instead developing a plan while the defense is on the field our OC is probably monitor the defense, readying the special teams and when the offense takes the field it's like "ohhhh, aahhh, errrr oh chit ahhh try 38 trap right". It’s like there is no plan for the situation.

(With all that said, Ferguson is one of the best running backs in the conference.) NO, he IS the best running back in the meac, hell look at our OL........ They are NOT even average, Fobbs must play the seniors even if they are owful to below average............ My question is why in he hell our freshman are not getting playing time? We are 0-6... Fobbs might want to try some of those freshman in game situations WHAT do we have to lose!!!!!!

I rather he just redshirt those freshmen at this point. Maybe we can get a real offense in place by the time their eligibility clock starts running.
