My guys from Ragsdale gutted it out on the road at Dudley in OT 27-20. We're 2-0 with a very very young team but we have some really good skill athletes, great receivers and some size up front.
Made an old Flying Tiger proud.

I just got news that my Hornets have to strap up against DeMatha High School this week and then Dudley next week...not that worried about Dudley, if they beat us, they'll have to play one of their best games...but DeMatha...?? Da Hell??? That's the most wicked out of conference schedule in the state: 1. New Bern (powerhouse program year in, year out) 2. E.E. Smith (up and coming...decent team) 3. DeMatha (monster squad...no words to describe) 4. Dudley (another legit squad with potential to go deep in the playoffs)
I'm saying all this to say, if we come out the out of conference schedule at least 2-2, I will be more than satisfied. 1-3 then, I might be a little worried because our confidence might be shook. We are fairly young on defense.

Dudley shot themselves in the foot in that Ragsdale game. That game should have never gone into overtime. Dudley made crucial mistakes at crucial times in that game. You have to give it to Ragsdale, they took advantage of every mistake Dudley made. These two will more than likely play each other again in the playoffs.

I know, I don't know why Runt (Hillside's coach) schedule this game. Maybe, it's because Runt's senior year they played Oak Hill in basketball and we thought we had a chance til Stackhous 360-dunked and brought the house down at NCCU's gym...they beat us by 30. But the game is in Durham in the hornets nest...

well, i'm glad its being played in durham instead of maryland. i live right down the street from where dematha plays their home games. dem dudes dayum near look like a college team. but playing them in durham should help a little.
i've lived in maryland for about 25 years now, but my roots are in north carolina where i was born and raised. so i'll be pulling for your hornets, as i always favor north carolina schools over any other schools!
just make sure your home fans know what ya'll are gonna be up against. dematha is not a normal high school team...

Dematha has a good program but they can be beat!!! If I'm not mistaken a number of public high schools in the DC,Baltimore and Va area have beat Dematha !! So hillside has a shoot! If Hillsides line holds up they will make a game of it!! I don't think that Dematha can match Hillsides speed>>!

Well you know that's where the game is won...in the trenches. I'm hearing Hillside has good size and speed, they are just young. Especially along the offensively line.

To make a long story short saabman...Hillside takes a beatdown this week. They may even bust the scoreboard on us.

To make a long story short saabman...Hillside takes a beatdown this week. They may even bust the scoreboard on us. but here's the good news, ohsixrain. "by dematha standards", they weren't that good last year compared to previous years. they had a 6-4 record which is a down year for them. and they only beat dunbar high school by 8 points (which is the only public school they played last year). i don't know what they have returning this year, but last year they had a brand new "rookie" head coach (elijah brooks) who replaced the longtime legend bill mcgregor. brooks is on the "hot seat" already because of last year's record. now might be a good time to ambush them muggs...

10/30/2010 Carroll County (Hillsville, VA) 63 Dematha 0 after that beat down Dematha has been staying close to the DC area..lol I really don't think that they can hold up against stronger southern programs.

This is how I figure it...if we play them close, that's equivalent to a win especially as far as confidence goes. But, if we get lit up by more than 4 scores then all bets are off. I'm not sure how Runt (Coach) will handle the adversity of having a team that my be down in confidence heading into the Dudley game.
