***Sports Bulletin.....UNC-G fires long time coach Mike Dement in December and hires assistant coach as interim head coach.
Wes Miller, who is the youngest coach in the country, has guided UNC-G to a 10-1 record since he took over.
***Food for thought. If A&T fired THEIR long time coach and hired Stith on a 1 year interim contract would we be better off??? Maybe after this season. If nothing else at least make the move and get a quality MBB caoch for next year!!!

Wow! Miller has gone 10-1 since they got rid of Dement? That is quite an eye opener!!

This is a long Shot, but I think Aggie Basketball should pursue JEFF CAPEL on the Bench at Duke as an assistant Coach, I know he had encountered problems at Oklahoma as a Head Coach, however and also the fact that his Dad Coach here, JUST A THOUGHT!

AGGIE PRIDE! jeff capel probably wouldn't take a step down in prestige and salary to coach at a&t. we probably would've had a better chance of landing his brother, jason capel. but jason is currently the head coach at app state, plus we didn't have very much luck with the last former tarheel player who became our head coach...

I don't think either of the younger Capel's can identify with the HBCU culture as well as their dad.

You are absolutely right. Miller lost to ECU, Duke, VCU, Richmond, Miami, and Davidson in that order (pretty tall order). Since then he has gone 10-1 in conference play.

Yeah...I agree with Gator. The Capels' dad was hired from Fayetteville State, so A&T wasn't a cultural shock for him as far as resources are concerned. But, Jason Capel is at App. State, I'm not sure but their resources may not be that much greater than ours when it comes to basketball. But as for Jeff Jr. forget about it...from Duke to Oklahoma to A&T....oh heGGG Naw!

It nevers hurts to ask. I would also consider Nate James. These are all big(ger) names we're throwing out there. There are a lot of other capable coaches out there (asst's and DII head coaches - BLACK AND WHITE) who deserve our focus as well.....

Just read an interesting article about Corliss Williamson taking over the Central Arkansas job this year. $110k salary...

If anything, I would check with Old Man Capel with the Bobcats. I have talked to him on many occasions, and he ain't "that mad" anymore.

Geez, I know this is the "Firing Squad" forum, but the season aint over and the guy is still here. This thread is really counting chickens, not to mention downright disrespectful to Eaves and the team considering the time of year it is. At least wait a couple of weeks when they get knocked out the tourney. Nothing will happen prior to that anyway!
OK, back to staying out of bball business.

This time of year is not appropriate for this type of talk. NCCU approaches. Tournament approaches. The discussion of wanting a new coach should be saved for after that. Bashing a coach in late February serves no purpose to me. It really should be rolled back until after the MEAC tournament. I'm not a fan of Eaves history either, but that's just my 2 cents.
