Vice-Chancellor Andrew Perkins does not need to speak another word to the press because he is a terrible spokesman for the University. In September he stated the Press Box would be finished in a few weeks when everyone with eyes knew it had a few months to go. Now he has stated that the Press Box will be finish in a week when there is clearly weeks of work left. A spokesperson must have some credibility and Perkins has none.
This project has gone from $3.7 million to $4.2 mil to a $5 million project and counting. How can A&T collect damages from this company, when this company is 5 months behind and had to make payroll for that period of time to keep the project going? I see bankruptcy in this company or a long term payout to A&T.
A&T has stopped posting their monthly construction progress reports. The last one was in October 2011.
The original press box proposal had this project as a 10-month project why the current A&T administration thought it could be done in 5 months is beyond me.

I wonder how much money do you have to give to get in on the private tour of the Press Box once it opens?
I am sure I would get a tour of the Press Box if I was an applicant for a suite ;D

Hard for me to get by the obvious typo in the headline! How do you miss that?

the register has always been notorious for typos and grammar errors. even when i was a student that was the case. back then, we didn't have pc's and spell check, so it was kinda understandable. but with today's technologies, you would think something as simple as a grammar and spell check would be used before issuing publications...

He didn't say that's when it would be completed , he stated that was the next target date , meaning they will owe us another late fee. When a project is delayed like in this case the cost does not go up for the client, whenever it finished we will end up paying less because of late penalties.

Construction projects like this ,and in general are never paid in full before the project is complete . The company is paid in installments , with the final payment due only after the structure is certified for occupancy. Sometimes the payments are continued for months after completion.

There is also the warranty on the structure which runs for a year. During that period, the university will be scrutinizing everything.

Something is fishy here. I think an internal investigation needs to launched on how Kenbridge was even chosen by Perkins in the first place.
This could be a case where money was paid under the table to secure a bid and that is why Perkins has been willing to give them all these extensions. Granted I have no proof that is the case but something is obviously not on the level here and construction is a notoriously dirty business.
At the very least, Perkins should be officially reprimanded by Martin for not being a good project manager.
