After watching the video of Coach Broadway, the nickname "Funky B" doesn't fit, he's more like "cool B". I could almost see him stting there with a pair of shades on.

during broadway's second interview clipping, he reiterated some things that i stated months ago on bdv when we debated scheduling vul as opposed to stiffer competition. in his own words, you heard him say how important it was just to get a win over vul and that scheduling ooc weaker teams (that you can successfully compete against) is important to successful programs. and he gave examples of that.
matter of fact, look at app state. don't you think they could've scheduled tougher competition than us and savannah state this season? there's reasons (plural) for scheduling weaker ooc teams and winning isn't the only one. almost every acc team played down on opening day. wake forest didn't and look at what happened to them? however, duke played down and loss! but unc and nc state both played down and won. so did fsu, uva, va. tech. and clemson, all of whom won. bc didn't play down and they loss.
sounds to me that broadway doesn't intend on vul being the last cupcake we'll see in the future and i'm cool with that...

Cupcakes their are no cupcakes in HBCU because we are competing for the same recurites that the CIAA teams are after. App state recurites the same 3, 2, 1 star athletes that we are after. So their are no Cupcakes to be had.

I was thinking about something this morning.
Why in the world didn't VUL wait a few years before officially entering competition? All the successful first-time programs always stack up and redshirt players for a few years before they play a game. What was VUL thinking?

I'm still curious as to where they got the money for a startup program?

Probably because of the type of kids they brought in. Last chance for most of them espically since many were in there early 20's - they had no time to sit around and redshirt. Within a year many of these kids would be back at home. (forget the year within in months) I think the motivation was the chance to play football immiadately may help a few of them stay on the straight and narrow.
In addition with the amount of players that were dismised from the program there was no time to sit around and make them better citizens.
My opinon; I think the hope was that football would make a imediate life changing impact in some of the players lives and it probably has for some of them. Those will probably be what there Coach builds the program from.

That makes sense. Not to mention, what's the point of redshirting when you don't have to anyway? They're not governed by any sanctioning body.
That being typed, they are losing games left and right despite the obvious talent advantage. More practice time and more time to gel as a team would have greatly behooved them.

i think they're lacking good facilities to build a team with. if i remember correctly, i think their practice field is barely 50 yards long, if that. they probably don't have adequate training, practice, and weight lifting equipment. that puts them at a big disadvantage...

I was thinking about something this morning. Why in the world didn't VUL wait a few years before officially entering competition? All the successful first-time programs always stack up and redshirt players for a few years before they play a game. What was VUL thinking? Because VUL president is stupid!!!! It pisses me off, when time and time again, you see black community leaders put their organizations, legacies and black communities in harms way because of the leaders' short-sighted, short-term gratification for themselves. In VUL first 3 weeks, the program brought ill-will to the Lynchburg community and embarrassment to a longstanding college in community. This college has to house its new 100 students at Liberty U and its prez is wasting money on a fantasy of getting into the CIAA for sports glory in a very tough economy for the world, the US and black people. 2 years of losing by this makeshift football program and the only thing that will be left for VUL is total embarrassment.
