Bruce Stewart..he was a candidate in 2008 and should have been hired then. In my opinion with the state of athletics at that time, he was the strongest candidate. He built football programs at two FCS school (and ours certainly needed rebuilding) and he is a strong fundraiser....and HE WANTED THE JOB! Interestingly enough, a member of the search committee said he was 'too ambitious.' www.odusports.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/stewart_bruce00.htmlBruce Stewart is in his fourth year as Associate Athletics Director at Old Dominion University where he spearheaded the Monarchs revival of the football program. Stewart also serves as the primary administrator of six additional ODU sports programs and oversees the functional areas of Strength & Conditioning, Equipment Operations, Events and Facilities. Stewart joined Old Dominion after a nine-year stint at Coastal Carolina University, in which he served as the Senior Associate Athletics Director. Prior to his promotion, he was the Associate Athletic Director of Finance. He played a key role in helping the Chanticleers add football as a varsity sport at the university as the Assistant Athletic Director for Internal Operations. A native of Columbus, Ohio, Stewart held numerous other responsibilities in his first four years at Coastal Carolina. During his tenure, he was the administrator for several of the school's athletic fund-raising events and was an integral part of the game management and promotions for the department. He also served as an adjunct professor in the Wall College of Business, teaching a business law course. Stewart attended Morehouse College in Atlanta, earning his bachelor of arts in psychology in 1994. He furthered his educational training at The Ohio State University by completing a J.D./M.A. degree program, a four-year program that combined studies in law with sport management. While completing his law and master's degree, he was published in The Journal of Sport Management and The Journal of Legal Aspects of Sport. He was a three-sport standout in high school at the Columbus Academy, competing in football, basketball and track.

George Koonce, who has been interviewed, is my 1st choice. Hilton is my 2nd choice. That's a nice write-up on Bruce Stewart; did he apply this time?
Decks, Dawson interviewed but his name is not on the list, has he been totally eliminated?

I voted for write-in but I don't have name. I just think it has to be someone with no ties to A&T who has vast experience in getting athletic departments organized. I think A&T should find a strong AD who has recently retired to build a strong foundation for A&T athletic department.
The problem will be money and fighting people within A&T who don't want change especially from an outsider.

It's the same thing that I experienced at another MEAC school, to a degree. I still think that Bill Hayes would be a very good SHORT-TERM solution...three years, maximum.

...The problem will be money and fighting people within A&T who don't want change especially from an outsider. While I agree that money has and will continue to be a standing issue, I disagree that change will be a challenge. The magnitude of the recent tragedy in conjunction with years of inept decisions will bring about changes. Either we accept and embrace effective changes or we do without an athletic department.

Very sever family problems that required his time at home so he resigned to address them.

who are the final choices.. ... i keep hearing chico.. isn't this the same chico who cost wssu an extra yr added to their d-1 probation period.. the same chico who moved gms to "the joel" when all but one of those gms should have been played on campus.. "the folks in dowdy" do enough to waste money without him on board.. then i hear len dawson.. i hear he is a good man.. but doesn't grambling have the worst apr among all d-1 hbcus.. runaggierun.. i like what you have posted on stewart.. he would be the best candidate.. but there is 1 problem with stewart.. i take that back.. there are 2 problems with bringing stewart on board.. 1) it makes too much sense.. & we all know now how that conflicts with "the folks in dowdy"... 2) stewart would not be in control of his own budget.. i don't see "the folks in dowdy" giving an ad that kind of power.. they should.. because "the folks in dowdy" don't know how to run an athletic dept.. with out control of his budget.. stewart would be just like chico & dawson... a patsy... then in 2-3yrs "the folks in dowdy" would be ready to fire his azz... stewart would just be another good man sent to the "graveyard".. courtesy of "the folks in dowdy"...
