Aggierattler: what are your thoughts on A&T moving forward with the new pressbox at this time of economic uncertainty in NC and nationally? Will it take away money from the athletic programs or prevent the flow of new money into the athletic programs for a few years?
The debt WSSU had from the field house and rental agreements help prevent WSSU from staying in Div I. I know a lot of people on this site may disagree with last statement and blame the current WSSU chancellor. You noticed App State didn't build their new pressbox till after a lot of football success and fundraising.

In all honesty, I have not read up on how it is funded, and, of course, funding rules change from state-to-state. That pressbox is badly needed. However, it should not impede the athletics department from going out and raising monies for scholarships and enhancement of programs and facilities. In North Carolina, can state schools put corporate names on their state-owned facilities??? Florida (at this time, anyway) prohibits corporate names but allows donor names on college athletic facilities. I would see if you could slap "Blue Cross/Blue Shield of North Carolina" on that pressbox for at least $5 million for 10 years and start working on field naming rights for the stadium!

There has been alot of talk in the past about corporate naming. The Stadium carries the name of the Ford Complex, but it seems the sign has outlasted the funding. The Press Box and any venue on campus has private funding is fair game. Take look at some of the newer areas of Craig Hall and you will be shocked and impressed at a few plaques outside some classrooms.

One thing that I would love to see the administration do at Tee is to name the football field after Dr. William "Big Bill" Bell. He has stamped a huge footprint on two MEAC football programs and is still a legendary figure at FAMU (even though he is overshadowed by Jake Gaither).
