Antfan2003, how much can a player who really is dedicated improve in one offseason with a good strength program?
I met the new strength coach and came away very impressed, but on the other hand, I am a string bean. I don't know much about pumping iron.
What is a realistic expectation we should have for our team strength this year?

Have any of you seen the S.C. State schedule? They are playing the Air Force Acadamy and The University of S.C. this upcoming season.

But to help answer your question, I am told that some kids have seen a 30 to 40 pound increase in bench strength. And all are seeing increases in squats and cleans. Those are your explosive lifts. I can also see some changes in body types. Less roundness in some players, more definition in others.

I like the schedule for this year. It creates the best opportunity for revenue and a possible win or two.

When looking at BCS players, one of the most obvious differences is in the legs. Our guys have puny legs. Question: What is the biggest determining factor as to whether a kid stays for summer school? Is it money? Classes needed? Desire to go home? Distance from home? Need/desire to get bigger and stronger? Question: Is the S&C coach doing anything with diet (especially for some of the OL)?

From what I understand it's money. These kids can't come up with the money it takes to attend summer school. Which I always found weird because I would work two jobs for a week and a half after the semester was over and have book and tuition money for a summer session the whole time I was at A&T.
The a.d. said when she came aboard she got the athletes on supplements. I would think they probably have a little training table going too.
That being said we're still behind the other programs right now that have established coaches and systems in place versus our still testing things out model. Hopefully we'll close the gulf this year.

Ideally he would like to keep the top 22 players on both sides of the ball here for summer. The S&C coach is working with the players on nutrition. A few of the larger linemen have lost weight.

Is there anything the BDF could do to help out with the summer school costs ... or is that against NCAA regulations?

Is there anything the BDF could do to help out with the summer school costs ... or is that against NCAA regulations? You can donate to the football program through the foundation.

No, I mean can we specially donate money just to go towards the summer school program? Yes, just earmark the funds for summer school for football.
