Aggies finish 1-10 season with loss to Bulldogs Sunday, November 21, 2010 (Updated 6:38 am) By David Reynolds Special to the News & RecordGREENSBORO -- With one final defeat, N.C. A&T's 2010 football season came to an end Saturday at Aggie Stadium. This loss, 48-3 to S.C. State, wasn't much different than the first nine defeats of the season. A host of untimely turnovers, a rash of illegal-procedure penalties and another afternoon of poor execution doomed the Aggies (1-10, 1-7 MEAC), and A&T again was dominated on both lines of scrimmage. "(The fans) are disappointed. I'm disappointed. The team's disappointed. Everybody would definitely be disappointed with 1-10," coach Alonzo Lee said. Quarterback Malcolm Long did the heavy lifting in the red zone for S.C. State (9-2, 7-1). Long bulldozed his way to three touchdowns from 1 yard, using his 260-pound frame as a battering ram against the undersized Aggies line. The Bulldogs finished with 267 yards and six scores on the ground. A&T finished with 242 total yards and was held to three points despite starting in great field position several times. "For me, it's sadness," Aggies senior linebacker Brandon Jackson said of his last game. "I've been here for five years grinding, and it didn't go the way I wanted it to go." The game was the last for a group of 11 seniors that has endured plenty of adversity since stepping onto A&T's campus. In addition to this year's disappointing record, the group went through two 0-11 seasons, a pair of coaching changes and the deaths of two teammates during their Aggies careers. The NCAA also penalized A&T this year for poor numbers in its Academic Progress Rate, costing the Aggies 6.3 scholarships and four hours of practice time per week. While they weren't able to lead the Aggies to very many wins, this year's seniors are on track to improve the school's APR. Every member of the class is on schedule to graduate within a year.
