I think all of the players come with hard hats, but I think that they are sometimes over matched in size and experience. Howard's backcourt was clearly bigger than Alston, Joshua, Hill and a sort of stalemate with Simpson. A&T's young players come to play but lack experience and are somewhat tentative (except Witter), but can only get better with playing time. Alston clearly was the man taking the ball to the rim. He got all of his points with the exception of a free throw by driving to the hoop or shooting a floater in the lane or off of the glass. He made some unbelievable shots. His problem is shooting free throws. Hill made some good drives and handled the ball well until he made two errors, which sent Eaves into a rage. Joshua is a streak shooter who tends to want to do too much with the ball resulting in turnovers. He needs to play within himself and let the game come to him, because he is a very good athlete. Simpson was the forgotten man down the stretch, even though he was their best 3 point shooter. He shot over 50% from the 3 point line. I believe that all of his points came from shooting 3 pointers. He and Witter seem to be pure shooters, although the other night could have been an aberation. Hopefully, Porter and Coleman can continue to rebound and play tough defense in the lane and around the basket. That really helped in the comeback effort.
Things don't look too good right now for a winning season. However, all hope is not lost, because there are many more games to be played. We can come together and get on a winning streak like last season and finish in the hunt.
