That's not a far-fetched rumor. I was told by a person in-the-know immediately after Wheeler was dismissed that his name was first on-the-list. Since I had not heard his name mentioned recently, I thought that he may have fallen by the wayside. Maybe not, huh? He has another business to run. Give him time. Chicometrics is a world-wide empire. Talk about putting the band back together...

Maybe that's the package deal! Who, Chico & Maynor? Nope, I was thinking of a worst case scenario, based on the "getting the band back together" comment.

Well, Chancellor Martin did say that academics were a priority and with Dr. Caldwell's academic background and understanding that research in athletics can be a source of funding, this could be an interesting reunion.

Source of funding??? What funds did he bring into WSSU? A fieldhouse on a stadium that WSSU still pays rent for? Heck, he was the AD that led WSSU back to Div-2. with help of the Chancellor.

Yeah! What's so bad about him? www.wssurams.com/genrel/caldwell_drchico00.htmlOk, the bio left out his record as a coach at SC Steat (48-65). And it left out the part about how he almost bankrupted WSSU with the jack-legged idea of moving them to d-1 (along with a certain Chancellor, who bolted immediately afterwards). And he was basically fired because fundraising wasn't up to par. But we Ayantee, that won't be no problem, right? Right? Look, he's already wearing gold! .................... Aggie Pride!!!

I never said he was effective in making that happen. However, in a new institution with an established research division, its possible. Remember under Martin WSSU transitioned into adding more graduate programs and began reshaping itself to take advantage of research funding. But we're a research institution. If its Chico, he needs to lay out a clear plan of attack. Line up faculty support and support staff and make it happen. Oh yea, and hire an experienced fundraiser. Thats kind of important.....

Done deal from what I hear. Really, as late as this morning I was getting the "no knowledge" comment from official sources at A&T. It sounds like the more appropriate response would be "an announcement is forthcoming" Are they already running from this hire?
