Why do we care where the game is played? It's not our home game. Besides they weren't going to get a better deal anywhere else. It only cost's around $6,500 to rent Memorial Stadium. If thats all then the decision doesn't seem as bad. 10,000 cramped=around $120,000 while 22,000 comfortably= $440,000-$6,500(stadium fee). When you look at it like that its a no brainer to move it. School will make its money. The crowd will be overwhelmingly A&T fan base, but at least Central will get paid. Just found this on the Memorial Stadiums Website: Capacity:24,000 Rental Price - $6,185.00 per day and/or percentage of gate - 12% Parking, car & family minivan - $2-5 range So if its a selllout it will be a $417,000 gross for them at $20/ticket. Not bad at all. Especially for NCCU because they aint use to getting that type of money in one shot.

( i'm still trying to figure that one out)... but can people put their heads together & figure out how to make this game profit more than it is at this point... could the business depts. at both schools draw up some business plans that could get each school 500k each yr. for starters... 1mil plus down the road... this game could rival the famu bcc classic where they are getting paid big time while aggies & eagles are satisfied with chump change.... but to make big time money nccu & a&t will have to work as partners & be very strategic in each money making endeaver....

I work very closely with the Florida Classic and know the inner-workings of the deal between the schools, Florida Citrus Sports, the city of Orlando and Orange County. I also worked and lived in Charlotte for 18 years with the NBA franchises there.
As an Aggie, I have said for YEARS that we have a gold mine in Charlotte but are too selfish to make things work in our favor. Move the Aggie-Eagle Classic to Charlotte as the season opener for both teams in a partnership with the city of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County and both teams could make a pretty penny.
OR...
Restore the Rivalry Classic with South Carolina State, cut out The 100 Black Men, partner with the city and county and that game would make a mint.

What I could not wrap my mind around was how NCA&T and NCCU chancellors let everyone make a lot of money off of their game while they received 10 percent or less of the gross. There was only one game that had a low attendance of 26,000 due to the hurricane threat.
Former A&T AD, Scandrett, tried everything he could to not give away those dollar potential and almost convinced Renick not to play the game in Raleigh but so-called political pressure was put on Renick to continue this giveaway.
A&T can have three big money games every year with their natural rivalries. Especially, now that A&T is not as dominate as in the past over its rivals, NCCU and WSSU.
FAMU and BCU led the way in showing what could be done by the schools themselves. We may not be able to get 70,000 plus to fill Carolina Panther Stadium but it could consistently get 42,000 fans annually.
A major problem in getting this started is finding a 40,000 seat stadium that could be used with minimal cost and minimal schedule interference on dates.

Please don't forget your history. A&T and NCCU both had control over the Aggie Eagle for a number of years while it was in Raleigh. One year they hired a promoter and the only one that made money was the promoter. The truth is that the schools didn't want the responsibility/risk for the game. To quote a well known football coach, All we wanted to do was show up and play the game. The athletic department didn't want anything to do with promoting the Aggie Eagle Classic.
Question, what makes us think that if we move the game to Charlotte that it will be anymore of a financial success than it was in Raleigh. We have forgotten that the Aggie Eagle had great crowds every year it was in Raleigh. However, great crowds did not translate into great attendance in the game or revenue because at game time, there were thousands of people tailgating and not paying to attend the game. The Organizing committee tried to combat that the final year by charging everyone who came to the stadium the price of a ticket. Folks raised h--- and refused to come to the stadium. Result, they lost money and couldn't pay the teams the guarantee. Everybody wants to play this game in Charlotte in Panther Stadium. In my mind, Panther Stadium is a big upgrade from Carter Finley. You cannot compare Carter Finley to Memorial Stadium. In my mind, Memorial Stadium is a big step down from carter Finley. Does anybody know how much it cost to rent Panther Stadium. I'm sure it's uch more than Carter Finley and memorial Stadium.
If we did rent Panther stadium, who do you think will get the parking and concession money. That was big complaint about the Aggie Eagle. Who's going to be responsible for security. Most important, who is going to be financially responsible for absorbing any losses when fans decide they have a better time tailgating than going to the game. Do you think that the schools want that kind of risk? Or will the schools be better off saying, All I want to do is show up and play the game and recieve a guarantee check. My only point is, things are a lot more complicated than they sometimes seem. I hope I'm wrong.

we're now on a home-and-home basis with nccu. i don't think either school is necessarily looking for a neutral site because of overhead costs. clearly we stand to make much more money by hosting our home games against central at aggie stadium. i'm sure our record had a lot to do with it, but we didn't even completely sellout aggie stadium last year when we played central. so it wouldn't make sense for us to host our home games against central anywhere else until our football team starts winning games and our fan support is restored. i'm pretty sure central would like to play this game at their home stadium but it only seats about 10,000 or so fans, and after last year's altercation, it would be a security risk to play it there. also, they're looking at "losing" 10,000 plus tickets that couldn't be purchased if played at nccu. its easy to see why central chose memorial stadium, but i think it would be more profitable for a&t to host at aggie stadium rather than a neutral site…

Not need to move it when its our home game. We were just talking about this years game. They're doing what best for them and we are doing whats best for us, and that's keeping it at Aggie Stadium. If the stadium(memorial) really only cost around 6500 to rent then it was a smart move for THEM. People like myself only make Aggie/Eagle, Homecoming, maybe one other game every year, so I'm just glad its not cancelled. I was hurting those few years we didn't play. I watch the rest via webcast.
