oleschool:
I am not 100 on this, but I think the plan for Hicks was to redshirt him, and have him compete for a spot in the running back room in '24. It's one of those questions that coaches ask kids when they (the player) approaches coaches and complains about playing time, and I'll ask it here:
"Who was Hicks going to beat out?" Christian? Dixon? Graves? Blizzard?
I asked about Keon Caudle, the transfer portal kid from NCSU. I saw him play at Tarboro HS, and he was "The Truuuf," but didn't set a big toe on the field this year for us.
Who knows what's going on 'round here. Lots of questions indeed!

Where was Cade Moledor today? Aaron Harris? David Laney? These fellas are/were defensive starters. I think Harris was injured, but he just kinda got ghost? I have another MIA player question for somebody, and I hope I can get an answer... WHAT HAPPENED TO JHYHEEM PITTMAN? He was a STUD DLineman from Dudley who was a freshman in '22. In limited action, he did a VERY GOOD JOB, and I think they burned his redshirt, but I'm not sure. Can one of y'all who is in the know answer that riddle for me? I believe some of the guys did not play today because of injuries.

i wanna know why jailen hicks never saw the field (to the best of my knowledge) all season long... I believe he got injured early (before the season) in the year. I could be wrong.

I agree that Hooker had a few good minutes but there are so many problems with this team. They looked completely disorganized. They can't get plays in within a timely manor even if they sucks. The defense lacked continuity with players out of position and uninspired. Too top it off the Streaming was awful. True freshman Joshua Iseah, who moved from his customary defensive end position to play linebacker on Saturday because of injuries, had a game-high 13 tackles, including one for loss. In his final game at Truist Stadium, Malich Jacobs made a career-high 12 tackles. Interesting tidbits.

I still can't comprehend that the team from last year could not win 1 CAA football game. Who would win the game between Stony Brook and us?🤔 I am somewhat embarrassed to even ask that question.

Last year We did not beat a team with a winning record. We also lost our #1 QB, WR, RB, LT, LG, RG, ILB, ILB, OLB, DT, DT, DE, DE and #2 CB

It did not have to be that way. Even so, there were teams we played that were not at full strength or did not have a winning CAA record, and we still lost. The cupboard was not completely bare and we had players returning with experience.

Pittman is not on the team, he didn’t finish out the 22 season either.

The player’s returning weren’t good enough to win with…especially without an experienced QB.

Blizzard? for me, its not about beating anybody out. for me, its more so about seeing what you have in your new players, particularly scholarship players. hicks has "homerun" speed that could've helped our offense, especially from the "slot position". nothing wrong with targeting hicks for a short pass or two, or even giving him a hand off or two in a game. you can still redshirt him even if he plays in a game or two, so redshirting him to me is no excuse for not playing him at all. regarding whether coach "asked" him about redshirting? that's puzzling to me cuz that should solely be the decision of the coaches, not necessarily what the player wants. besides, imo, if a scholarship player "doesn't want to play" at all during his freshman year, then to me that raises questions about the kid's passion and desire to even be playing football...

The player’s returning weren’t good enough to win with…especially without an experienced QB. How Admin/AD handled the firing of the HC, hiring of the new HC, communication with the players over the break, promises to the players, etc. led to maybe more key players leaving by transfer portal than expected. After the hiring of the new HC, we were slow on filling staff positions, fired the strength and conditioning coach, decision to switch to a 3-4 defense knowing you don't have the size upfront or LB depth to be successful, handling and evaluation of QB group, etc. All of this before the 1st snap of the season.
