Its amazing how activated the alumni get when they feel disrespected, but we can't activate the same alumni for fundraising initiatives. LOL That's disingenuous. Recordbreaking Capital Campaign, Recordbreading AAF Giving. This UNCG issue is 50 years old, ever since they mysteriously changed their colors from green and gold to blue and gold when I was in school. It will never go away. However, if some philanthropic corporation wanted to make it interesting and capitalize on the emotion, create a fundraising contest between the two schools with the company giving matching funds to the winner.

I'm only 51, so if any of you old head out there know why UNCG would change it's colors to match NCA&T please enlighten me. Seem pretty counter productive to use the same colors as an existing school...especially one right across town. That is a serious marketing fail if I ever saw one.

Contrary to that, it could have been a shrewd marketing strategy. Nothing definitive was ever released but this happened in midst of a decade of merger talk in the legislature and in the street.

Maxell is right. G has always had this thing about A&T. IMO. It was this school with UNC in its name (like Pembrook did) trying to make The East Market St. School feel small, and not challenging.
Under the Tree of Knowledge (by the now demolished Scott Hall) The Brothers would mention That A&T always had a Big Percentage of Men (Male Students){ all of the Men in my family went to "T"}, and whether we are talking about "The A&T Four" and or the Dudley Elections/A&T Uprising, The City & State Fathers wouldn't mind if the School changed Hands/Leadership Period. If not, then starve them of Gate Keeping Programs like The Vet School (when I was a freshman) instead, allowing a Pre-Vet Program. (Not wanting to create a Vet Powerhouse like Tuskegee) or PHD Programs in other then Education. I remember struggling to save Our Nursing School and all of so-called duplication of programs when Califano, Sec of Health Education and Welfare under Pres Carter, floated trial balloons. That was Eyes wide open shop talk under the Tree, when we had less that 6 thousand Students.
Now we are Gaining Enrollment, with 40k Applications. Our Cafe & Food options have caught up. (Although I loved our Own Milk and Ice cream.) We are Making our Case for a better Research Status and the like and are Getting our Tech Game in order with robots roaming the yard.
Out of State Students are knocking on the doors and we are being fined for giving them a shot. And meanwhile 'G is an afterthought, printing HBCU Pride cups. If The LiveWires were still tripping out, like in the past (with the Ham Sandwich & Morgan State Pig), The They should have some posters (Of the HBCU PRIDE Cups) Made for 'G if they ever come back to Corbett.
Lol, I know. Im tripping out...

OK, so from what you guys are telling me...sometime in the early 70's admins at UNCG thought it was a good idea (for whatever reasons at the time) to change their school colors to match the same exact colors as the school right across town. Now I get why we AGGIES are in our feelings about such a move...but you telling me that nobody at UNCG then...present day, or at any time thought to themselves this was a bad idea and said something about it? I mean what if NCSU decided they wanted to use Shaw U colors...or NCCU wanted to use Duke colors...or Wake Forest decided to use WSSU colors...it's extremely odd, and just doesn't make sense. I'm shocked that UNCG fans, students, and alumni are just OK with that?

It wouldn't have made a difference who complained are even suggested that it was a sensitive bad idea, because UNCG's BOT approved the color change. Hell A&T's move to the Big S***it was not complaint free but the BOT and Leadership approved the move so what could the fans students and alumni do to stop it from happening.

And like all Aggies I can not figure out why! By the way, rumors about them merging the two schools has been around since the 1960s. At that time we heard the state of NC was getting pressured from HEW because we had two state supported universities on the same street.

Thought the subject was about the HBCU logo concerning the connection to UNCG. It is downright embarrassing and unconconcerning for someone to dismiss this as a mistake in mass production of this project.
This was no mistake in my estimation. This is what they call a warning shot. The color changes to match ours was a warning shot years ago.
The next time it will be the element of surprise or maybe no surprise just plain ole being forward and direct - UNCG/A&T @ Greensboro.
Watch out!

..it's extremely odd, and just doesn't make sense. I'm shocked that UNCG fans, students, and alumni are just OK with that? Imagine a time when most white people in NC thought like TRUMP. What we were doing in East Greensboro didn't matter to them.

Inspired by the selection of the daisy as the official school flower in 1893, the first school colors were gold and white. In 1987, navy blue was added to provide better visual contrast to publications, merchandise, and athletic uniforms. In 2018, gray was elevated from a supporting color to a primary color."

What we were doing in East Greensboro didn't matter to them. I see your point...but if I was associated with the school, I'd be really pissed if the admin pulled a stunt like that. You wanna add a new color, OK...but a color that would make our school colors the same a another UNC system school...a school right across town. Surprised nobody raised a stink about that...even if it was years ago.

A friend of mine brought up a valid and interesting point the other day. You can't merge the two schools. Carolina wouldn't have it. If you merged T and G, what would immediately become one of the largest, most powerful schools in the UNC system?
Ultimately, putting HBCU Pride on a cup with UNCG doesn't do or change a thing about a thing.

Do you believe Carolina would allow a merger?

UNCG and A&T could never merge!!!! When I was at "T" a White professor in the PE Department explained that it would be a takeover.
Your professors and staff have to match the racial makeup of the community.
Blacks would not be retained because Greensboro is 75% White!
