UNCG seems to be a "plain girl". Nothing wrong with her, but she just doesn't stand out. UNCC and App State have BCS football, HBCUs have tradition and culture. slight correction, uncc and app state are not bcs schools. they are fbs schools but not bcs schools. you have to be a member of a p5 conference to be considered a bcs school... Conspicuously missing from the article is any mention of A&T and our enrollment growth. UNC Greensboro also loses some applicants to HBCUs, which are seeing a surge in popularity; Them MOFOs just will not acknowledge that we are doing something right! You got one State subsidized university with declining enrollment and another State subsidized university (A&T) on the same street busting at the seams. And you don't acknowledge it. WTF!

One of UNCG's top programs is Education. I bet those numbers are way down.

We probably aren't mentioned because the majority of our growth is from out of state students not in-state. I don't understand the sensitivity, it is perplexing. That's not the reason. UNCG is losing white students. That's what they are worried about. I would be interested in knowing how many of the same black students apply to A&T, UNCG, and UNCC. UNCG also might suffer from a lack of branding and identity. And because of its roots as the public female college for NC, hasn’t it had a hard time attracting male students? And as someone pointed out no football.

What’s UNCG’s current enrollment vs ours? In Fall 2022, UNCG enrolls 17,978 students in 76 baccalaureate programs, 58 master’s programs and 28 doctoral programs. The students came from all 50 states and 88 foreign countries/regions. EAST GREENSBORO, N.C. (Sept. 9, 2022) – North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University has grown to enrollment of 13,487 – another record for the university, as well as the largest enrollment ever for a historically Black college or university (HBCU).

Wow ! NCA&T is really starting to close the gap. I thought UNCG had over 20K students. We are out growing our infrastructure in east Greensboro and will need to stay on top of that for continued growth. The new master plan expands the campus nicely, but we have to continue our managed growth.

UNC Greensboro, the Triad’s largest state university, today announced record enrollment of 20,196 students for the University’s Fall 2019 Census. It’s the sixth year in a row UNCG has seen enrollment growth. Increases in graduate students, community college transfers, and online students contributed to UNCG’s growth.

Liberal arts schools like UNCG are losing students because we are now in a technological age.
Even NCSU is bigger than UNC now

It is considered a public ivy like Michigan, UCLA, Berkeley, UVA, W&M, and few others… Many of the land grants colleges that are not flagships are larger across the country.

UNC Greensboro also loses some applicants to HBCUs, which are seeing a surge in popularity; That doesn't count. The other PWI state schools are mentioned by name. That vague reference was an intentional slight IMO. A&T and UNCG are not competing for the same student’s
