I dont really care about prior FCS playoff experience because deep down I believe football is football and that a good coach will eventually be successful amongst his peers regardless of the level of competition. My personal wish list is that the next A&T football coach will be able to instill a true sense of hope and optimism within both the locker room and our fanbase. He needs to create his own narrative and control that narrative, independent of any help from the marketing department of this university. I want our next coach to be a brand onto himself. Just like Broadway was. A political strongman in a sense. Somebody who comes into the situation with real leverage and is not afraid to use that leverage to get what he needs to be successful. I believe that with the budget & resource shortfalls that we will surely face in the CAA, the next 2 years are gonna be brutal no matter who we hire this offseason. My hope is that the new guy will be able to weather the storm like Broadway did, keep everyone (players, fans, administration, media, A&T-roy) committed to his vision ... and then be ready to compete for a conference title in Year 3. LOL! Thanks for the recognition and, yes, I agree with that sentence! My current criteria: - CAA or higher rated conference coaching experience - Ability to recruit the types of players we need - Playoffs coaching experience...preferably winning 1 or more games - HBCU coaching experience (can be quite a bit of culture shock otherwise), but I won't die without it - Social media savvy-ish (on social media, recognizes its importance, posts periodically...say once a week) Note: I reserve the right to adjust my list.

can't believe no one has mentioned what i believe is the "most important" attribute (not the only attribute) for our next head coach and that is the ability to "RECRUIT". connell maynor and bill hayes "defied the odds" and almost won a d2 national championship because connell maynor and bill hayes (as a team) were able to "RECRUIT" some of the best football players available at the d2 level. coach prime's success was primarily achieved because of his ability to "RECRUIT" better athletes than most other fcs programs. if a&t is gonna be successful in the caa, then we'll need a coach who can "defy the odds" by signing outstanding recruits that we otherwise would not have been able to sign. that's far and away the #1 attribute i'd look for in the next head coach. #2 would be "knowledge of the game" and the ability to "develop talent", preferably based on previous experience as a player and as a coach. this criteria basically describes coach broadway. #3 would be a coach who the players "respect" and a coach who is a "disciplinarian". this criteria also describes coach broadway. #4 would be a coach who has experienced championship level success "at any level" of college football. those four characteristics would be the most important attributes i'd look for in our next head coach, but of course there a lot more to add such as maintaining a good apr and keeping the players engaged in their academics, the ability to fundraise would be great, the ability to astutely "speak" publicly as a representative of the university, and i could go on and on. but the 4 i listed above are the most important... Looks like you didn't read my post close enough.

I want to see someone with YEARS of experience in a winning FCS or FBS program. NFL isn't as important for me - professional athletes are not the same as student recruits. And very much not interested in D2. I don't even want to look in the direction of anybody that won in D2 using D1 players. I'm not even that sold on Deion - he ran through the SWAC with a bunch of players that were chasing his name, and couldn't get past SCSU or Central. I hope he does well at Colorado, but I'm not sure at all that he will playing schools with just as much talent as him. We talk about Broadway's time at NCCU at Grambling, but he also coached at ECU, Duke, Florida, and Carolina. I think that played a huge part in why he's done so well. He spent 5 years coaching with Steve Spurrier at Duke. He knows in and out the things winning football programs do, from running practices to recruiting. I'd rather have someone like that than take a chance on somebody that had one or two good years, possibly in an unusually good situation. Good point….

Like I previously stated, I want Brown to come in here on Monday with a clear mandate.
Tell us what he needs from us to be successful. I dont want him to try to assimilate with Aggie Nation; I want him to elevate Aggie Nation.
