How big is this? I’m not familiar with this major A physician’s assistant is the closest thing to being a doctor without being a doctor. It’s big.

Its a significant step in expanding our health related programs (biology, pre-med, bioengineering, nursing etc.). Strengthens our capability to compete/collaborate for health related research grants.

Would love it if it’s a precursor to a medical school down the road.

That's cute but a full-on medical school serving the Greensboro-High Point area is overdue. Especially with all the hospitals in the area. Wake can't have it all.
Imagine how well it could serve the community and the state.

From the article:
In North Carolina, the average PA salary is $102,261, according to the employment and compensation site Indeed. A North Carolina PA with experience of 10 years or more could expect to earn $128,385, on average. Nationally, the average base salary is $115,336, while more experienced PAs earn, on average, $144,800, reports Indeed.
Market demand is significant: Employment for PAs is projected to grow by 28% from 2021 to 2031, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, which also projects about 12,800 PA openings each year over the same span.

BTW, I haven't seen an actual physician in years for regular checkups and visits. It's ALWAYS a PA.

The more I think about it, the more this program could legitimately reposition the university in health sciences.
