I hope the staff has a plan to compensate for lack of depth at defense tackle. Who plays if the starters come out for a breather? I hope the staff effectively puts in some line backer run blitz. We have a solid core of linebackers with a good amount of depth. Everyone says it’s bad if your linebackers are making all the tackles. It’s where they make those tackles. At the line of scrimmage or after a running back has picked up 4-5 yards and a head of steam then it’s a problem Our corners gotta cover, FS has to patrol sideline to sideline and not get beat deep, and we gotta cover TEs one on one at a certain point. That is why you can't always stack the Box . If you have good LB's with range covering the TE shouldn't be that much of a problem . Also any team that is blitz heavy is a team that is also easy to predict especially when you LB's bite on the play action and do not drop back in coverage..i.e KSU was good at showing Blitz but then would drop back into Lane/ seam coverage . DB's missing after catch tackles was a big problem also .

ND State might not throw the ball 5 times against us. I wouldn't bet on that . They may not throw deep but they will throw especially to the TE's and RB's .

ND State might not throw the ball 5 times against us. That could be the key to victory making them pass the ball and getting them out of their comfort zone. With all due respect to NDSU I still say this is a winnable game. We just have to play lights out. If we can somehow stop their run and establish ours who knows what the outcome will be. Let's keep a positive attitude. Can I get a AGGIE PRIDE

Bowick came out of a FBS Program as well VA. TECH Yep. All in all, a hard choice as starter among the 3 of them.

I expect/hope our corners will be better this year...won't be nearly as concerned about getting beat over the top and will play more press coverage. That should reduce the number of short passes for 1st downs, etc.

Yall really need to watch more (i.e. some) NDSU football.
They specialize in combo blocks in the run game. If our defensive tackles are being pushed back into our linebackers, there will be no need for the Bison to attempt a forward pass.

The Patriots defeated the Bills with 3 pass attempts. I don't believe NDSU is above attempting to duplicate provided the environment dictates.

Yeah, but I was talking more about the 3rd and 5 type plays where our DBs had to play off (7-10 yds or so) and it was just a quick pass from the other team for 1st downs. Make no mistake about it, I'm CLEAR that winning starts in the trenches...both offense and defense, with the defensive line being the most important.

Y'all need to worry about NCCU. They're better on offense this year. A lot better.

It's funny you mention A1. I was on a HBCU podcast last night and quietly the buzzards feel pretty confident about this year's game. And if their defense stifles us it could be a real contest.

Their running backs typically do not encounter a defender until they are three yards past the LOS. Teams try to run blitz and that's when they hit you with the pass. Don't be fooled. Looking at 2021 stats, they throw about 20-25 times per game regardless of the opponent.

I'm still holding out hope that there are some bigtime D-tackle transfers headed our way. If not, this will be our front line on 3rd and short:
