it was probably wise on his part, i really didn't see a fit for him on our team. he had the size and basic skills, but i never saw the "aggressiveness" that a big of his size should have.
i absolutely wish him well, seems to be a pretty cool dude but unfortunately was not a great fit for our team...

Never saw enough of him to really make any assessment other than he did appear to have basic b-ball skills
Definitely not a fit for Coach Jones or his system

That's where I get stuck at...you are recruiting a player, when you are watching him play AAU, high school or whatever it is, how you NOT know if he can fit your system??? There is a plethora of reasons why players transfer but, "He doesn't fit my system," I will never understand.

I didn’t know much about this kid and was wondering how we ended up with a 7 footer. Curiously, his bio says he barely played HS ball and went to 2 Jr Colleges. Obviously this kid was a project from the start. We in a different place now than when he was recruited. I just wish him the best and hope he gets a degree! ncataggies.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/david-greer/2771

I think he was recruited by Joyner. Ah...now that you mention it, you are right. plus, "size" is very difficult to sign if they can play. so unlike guards, sometimes you have to take a "risk" on 7 footers because they're extremely hard to come by if they can play. so to me, i think the coaches knew they were taking a risk but it just didn't pay off...

This is true @ risk. I think about the scenario another way. If a 7-footer hits the transfer portal... every other D1 mid-major program gets a chance to look at the player and decide if they want to take the risk. The player dropped to D2. No other D1 program saw the player as a "fit" or wanted to take the "risk", either. Sometimes it's not meant to be at the present time. I wish David all the best in his future endeavors.

True in addition he had no real body of work not even from his JUCO stints
But none of that means he want go own to have some success at the D2 level pus and education paid for ..which will make him a very successful young brother !!

You have to be on the floor to properly evaluate a player.
