Since we are playing SCSU next year for GHOE, I assume there will be another band brawl that week between the Machine and the Marching 101.
Does Dr. Ruff have enough courage to surprise the Bulldogs and play their signature piece "Unthinkable" by Alicia Keys?
That would be a pretty sick move from a fan's perspective.
To date, nobody has performed Unthinkable better than SCSU ... but if we can somehow compose and execute a better version, that would really be the knockout blow.

It would be a nice event but, I'm not sure the 101 has fallen on hard times a bit.

I would rather hear our band play "give it up for the bulldogs" in the 4th quarter as we win the game..

I’m not a fan of playing a band’s signature song back at them. (Like Alcorn did to us). That’s showing no respect, but I would play a few songs in their book if we have a better arrangement.

And that's why bands do it. Playing another band's "signature song" is more effect. Imagine; GHOE 2020's, The Match up of the MEAC Co-Champions, The Battle of the Borders... A&T is up by 3 late in the 4th, 3rd down, 12 to goal, Snap!!! Quarterback Keeper ( gasp).... Touch Down!!!!!! AGGIESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!! THE KICK is GOOOOD!!! you hear the POP from the cannon, AGGIE FANS are on their feet, the BGMM stands up, they slide into ranks, you hear ppsssssssssssssssssssssssssssss, BLOW!! and the band start playing SCSU's "Give it up for the Bull Dogs".... OUR Fans go crazy, and start dancing, their Fans get confused and get in their feelings, we all eat fish sandwiches and talk about this moment for the next 5 years.. or we can play Alicia Keys

Be careful what you are planning. I remember in the Atlanta Classic 1989 I think FAMU/Tenn. State Fifth Quarter battle. The Aristocrats started taunting FAMU with Vesta Williams Congratulations without playing the song. After several taunts Dr. Foster step to podium raised his baton pulled his hat and FAMU cranked up Vesta Williams song and shut it down. SC State was vastly improved last year. They can go into their archives on us and we better be ready. Now the BGMM needs to improve on Slow Jam needed trills which I did not hear. Too many ****euphoniums need more baritones mellophones. trumpets trombones along with strong woodwinds. Most definitely more tubas than we had last year. What would be nice is a tribute Aretha Franklin some time like the song Call Me, or some Shirley Murdock As We Lay go old school once in awhile for stand battles and field battles.

I will agree that SCSU has improved, but improved doesn't mean they are good, they are just less horrible. Call me Aggie Arrogant but the BGMM has been arguable one of the best HBCU bands for a number of years for a reason. When it comes to SCSU, I really don't think we have anything to worry about..

Here's something to think about... unless the "socalled" band brawl between SCSU and the BGMM is held the day of the game, SCSU's band would have to come in the day before the game and spend the night somewhere. Based on SCSU's recent financial challenges, I doubt seriously they will pay for 60+ hotel rooms for their band members. And I don't see A&T or the BGMM covering their expenses either. There's not enough money in a band brawl and especially against the current SCSU band.

I agree, We have a better chance of hosting a NSU Battle of Bands, than we would have hosting SCSU Battle this year. By the way, I dont remember the last time the 101 came to BB&T stadium. All the more reason to use them as a punching bag, and rekindle some type or band rivalry. And to my own point playing, "give it up for the Bull Dogs" when we score the winning Touch Down would make any great grandmother from SCSU want to fight an A&T lineman.

Okay let me say this based upon my observations last year SCSU band improved tremendously The current Chairman of the Music Department at FAMU brother was the Director of SCSU band back in the day. While State may have hit a down slide do not be deceived that they are down for the count. Like us they have Pride also. I very well recall their being the best next to FAMU in the MEAC. Both of these Brothers truly were Blessed by God in their musical arrangements.

The surrounding community could be developed for housing for students and the community. We can make this happen for the overall community development of Uptown East Greensboro.

If we are honest, SCSU has an uphill battle, with a new band Dictator from an PWI. They need years and funding to bounce back. The BGMM is a better band then they are right now, even with SCSU's "improvements". If i quote my Great Grandmother as it pertains to the Marching 101 "they got a long row to hoe".
