A few items: 1. We missed an opportunity for a knockout blow coming off the 43-29 lead. Kam Langley hit 2 FTs, which allowed us to start applying pressure. After a ragged possession, we got 2 steals for a dunk and layup that pushed us to 49-29 with 19 minutes left to go. Right after that, Ron Jackson gets another steal as the midcourt man in the press... but he misses the knockout blow dunk. FAMU cut the lead to 49-31 to break the momentum and start chipping away at our end. If Ron makes that dunk... it's 51-29 and the crowd is going bananas. Gotta make those plays when you get them. 2. Tyler Maye really asserted himself in the 1st half with 12 pts on 5-11 shooting. In the 2nd half, he was 2-6... the layup off the steal and a big 3-pt down the stretch in our comeback. Tyler hit a big 3 in OT and 2 FTs. Andre Jackson hit 4-4 FTs in OT, which was big. Unfortunately, Dre went 5-19 shooting for the game (1-11 from 3-pt range) and only 1-4 from the FT line in regulation. Dre made some big plays on both ends... but he had some head-scratchers. Given the game flow, I would like to see the offense flow through Tyler in the 2nd half. And with Kwe Parker back and Tyrone Lyons likely back in the immediate future, Coach Jones' biggest challenge is dividing up minutes at the 2-3 spots to get the most efficiency he can. 3. Devin Haygood had about as awful of a MEAC opener as you could have... 2-9 FG, 0-4 FTs for 4 pts and fouling out in regulation of an OT game. He had some challenging matchups from FAMU's bigs, but he needs to take easier shots earlier and not settle for the jumpers off the bat... get into the flow of the game. 4. Kam Langley & Ron Jackson started out shooting FTs well (combined 8-10 in the 1st half). But they were 6-9 in the 2nd half when FAMU made their charge and a brutal 2-6 in OT, even though we outscored FAMU 16-9. As has been stated earlier, FTs will likely make or break out championship chances because with the uptempo style of play, we're going to be shooting them a lot. Credit to Kam for getting back into the game after the leg issue. We needed his leadership to claw back into the game in regulation. 5. Harry Morrice played solid in his first MEAC game. Our guards aren't trusting Harry on entry feeds yet... but they should. The next two games at MD-ES and at Del. St. will be a great time to work on this. 6. Fred Cleveland had 9 pts on 2-7 FG shooting (1-5 3 ptrs). He had some solid defense at spots, but he played like a freshman down the stretch when Kam went out... and at the end on the sequences where the ball was rolled. That's a good teachable moment for young Fred after a W. The guard play is going to be the down fall of our season .

Langley is a solid player. We don’t win last night without him and he toyed with a triple double. The up tempo play has impacted him the most. Let’s see how he adjusts. 15 more games to play.

Given our Motley Crew of PGs in the MEAC, Kam is definitely a top 1-2 MEAC floor general. www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/statistics/player/_/stat/assists/year/2020/seasontype/2/group/16Kam is the only PG averaging 2 more assists per game than TOs in the league. The Kam Langley that showed up yesterday (minus 1 careless TO per game) can lead us to a regular season/tournament title. But you may be asking the wrong question here, since the MEAC is a wing-driven league. For me... the question is whether the Tyler Maye that showed up last night can consistently give me 16 pts on 12 shot attempts from the 2 spot? And if a mix of Dre Jackson/Ty Lyons/Kwe Parker can give me an over 40% FG percentage and a 1:1 TO ratio? If the answers for those two questions are "Yes".... we're in business.

I agree. To me, Tyler is really the key in terms of having a consistent #2 scoring option to pair with Ron Jackson as option #1. And to be honest... Tyler is the only guy we have on the roster that can get (and knock down) his own shot. So we should really be more enthused about our former 3-star talent beginning to play to his level.

The guard play is going to be the down fall of our season . Or guard play could be the keys to our kingdom if Tyler Maye keeps the heat lamp on with a little more consistency from Dre Jackson, Kwe Parker and Fred Cleveland.

I don't think I'm asking the wrong question. For OUR TEAM, we need Kam to be very good to win. FAMU is not predicted to do well this year. He had some good stretches last night, especially during overtime......but those stretches need to be for a majority of the game, especially against better competition. And again, my critique of him is only because I don't think this team can win any championship with Kam playing B-/C+ basketball.

Just finished watching the game, to many turnovers and missed free-throws. Hopefully, the up-tempo style of play won't be to hard to embrace.

For me the key is sitting right on the bench in Harry M. People may laugh at me but that kid needs more minutes .

And it looks like he's in what will be a 9-man rotation. That's coming.

The MEAC is up for grabs this year. Nobody is all that good and the talent is about the same. The difference will be coaching and turnover ratio. Advantage Moten. One thing I liked about Jones last night was the number of times he changed defenses within one possession especially the first half.

If he's maintaining that average through the MEAC tournament... I can't ask much more of that from him. The issue is Dre Jackson taking close to 5 3-ptrs per game and only shooting 22% ... and went 1 for 11 last night. Aside from FTs, that's the statistic that's sticking out like a sore thumbs... not Kam's turnovers. Either Dre has to shoot better, or we gotta reduce his floor time. But it's hard winning with that level of perimeter efficiency.

He shoots too much, makes too little, and is not team-oriented enough for me to be a starter....not dogging him either, but that’s just what I see. The ride-or-die Aggies sitting with me at the games literally cringe when the ball is in his hands because, usually, a bad shoot is not far behind. I’m just saying.....

The big difference I see is that even in the half court, Kam is penetrating more and creating offensive opportunities by doing so.
