We should still have a dedicated QB coach

So are so saying you want to keep Barnette as offensive coordinator and just pay somebody else to solely coach the quarterbacks?

Yes, have a QB coach/passing game coordinator A dedicated pass game coordinator isn’t needed. At some point in the past, Coach Gibbs was the run game coordinator while Barnette was the passing coordinator. But I digress. A dedicated QB Coach would be a luxury. With the way Coach Barnette is growing in the position, this may not be necessary anymore. However, I think it would be cool if we can bring in Raynard as a grad assistant what works with the QBs.

As fans we have to be as consistent in our praise as we are in our condemnation.
Everyone here was criticizing Barnette after the Morgan State game ... but some of the same people refuse to acknowledge the 3 contests that followed that loss, where this offense average 55 points per game against tough defenses.

Were you pleased with the results when we had a dedicated QB coach from 2015-2017?

i'm not often critical of our coaches, very rarely if ever. probably because i come from the coaching ranks and understand what they go thru in good times and bad. the only time in recent memory that i recall being critical of our coaching indeed was the last 2 or 3 minutes of the morgan game which i felt was justified.
but other than that, i've virtually been completely "hands off" relative to our coaches especially since 2011 when coach broadway arrived. heck, i'm an "end results" guy, don't care how you get there as long as you win...

In 2017, our undefeated season, we averaged 35.1 points per game, 426.8 yards and scored 57 touchdowns.

This past season, we averaged 38.1 points per game, 442.8 yards and scored 55 touchdowns.

Barnette was the dedicated quarterbacks coach in 2017.
Barnette was the offensive coordinator & quarterback coach in 2019.
As you can see, the offensive production during both years is pretty much the same.

I think Matt Pawlowski would make a great QB coach he played QB in college and led his conference in passing yards all four years but again Barnette is doing a awesome job so that's that

If you are going to respond with stats keep them focused on the passing game. There has been a gradual decline in the number of touchdown passes since he has been the OC and QB coach. We had 15 passing touchdowns with all the weapons we have at WR and TE, If that number is acceptable to you then so be it but It’s not to me. 2019 - 15 Passing TDs 2018 - 24 Passing TDS 2017 - 28 Passing TDs This is a trend...facts are facts. I don’t want to hear about a new starting QB because again Alcorn QB threw 30 touchdowns. In 2017 with our run first offense we threw 28 so stop making excuses.

That's why I posted the total number of touchdowns and yards for both seasons.
Who cares if we do it through the air or on the ground? The end goal is to move the ball and get in the endzone. That is the ultimate objective of any offense.
The facts are that whatever Barnette is doing is currently working. It is working right now as good or better than it did during the greatest season in school history.
It might be your personal preference to have a new quarterbacks coach on the staff or for us to call more pass plays, but if you like scoring points and gaining yards, the facts would suggest that we should probably keep the same structure in place that we are currently using.
