A&T quarterback Kylil Carter saves best for last, leads Aggies to another Celebration Bowl win By Jeff Mills jeff.mills@greensboro.comATLANTA — Chances are, we won’t see another quarterback like N.C. A&T’s Kylil Carter anytime soon. In this day and age, when impatience is the rule and transfers are so easy, try to imagine a talented quarterback biding his time, waiting patiently as a backup until his fifth year of college football to finally become a starter. Because that’s exactly what Carter did. And on the final day of his long career, Carter played the single best game of any quarterback in the 95-year history of A&T football. Carter completed 18 of 30 passes for 364 yards and six touchdowns, leading No. 22 A&T to a 64-44 victory over Alcorn State in the fifth annual Celebration Bowl at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Saturday afternoon. He ran the ball 13 times for 96 more yards, breaking down a stout defense and making SWAC champion Alcorn (9-4) look painfully average. The six touchdown passes matched a school record for a single game set by Aggies legend Alan Hooker in 1985, and on this day those touchdowns led A&T (9-3) to its third consecutive Celebration Bowl victory, its fourth in five years. Celebration Bowl notebook: Jah-Maine Martin's 75-yard TD run started second-half shootout By Jeff Mills jeff.mills@greensboro.com
ATLANTA — Jah-Maine Martin knew Alcorn State would stack its defense to stop him. Who wouldn’t? And for a half, the Braves bottled up N.C. A&T’s All-America running back, giving up big plays in the passing game to take away the Aggies’ most consistent offensive player. It didn’t work. A&T quarterback Kylil Carter shredded Alcorn’s defense for six touchdown passes in a 64-44 victory in the fifth annual Celebration Bowl at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Saturday. And Martin ended up making a few big plays of his own. Martin, who finished seventh in the voting for the Walter Payton Award honoring the best FCS offensive player in the nation, had just one rushing yard on seven carries in the first half. Then he scored on the first play from scrimmage in the second half, sprinting 75 yards for a touchdown, running through the end zone and down the tunnel leading to the locker rooms beneath the stadium. North Carolina A&T wins Celebration Bowl in record-setting fashion STATE REPORT By Jaylon Thompson, For the AJC
North Carolina A&T quarterback Kylil Carter stamped his collegiate career with a signature performance. The Georgia native, who attended South Cobb High School, tossed six touchdowns in North Carolina A&T’s 64-44 victory over the Alcorn State Braves. The Aggies won their fourth Celebration Bowl in five seasons. “I just give all the praise to my guys, offensive linemen and my receivers,” Carter said. “Without them, it wouldn’t have been possible. I give them all the praise.” After a slow start, the Aggies found their rhythm in the second quarter. With Alcorn State stifling the run game, the game rested on Carter’s arm. The senior delivered with vertical shots down the field. Carter completed 18 of 30 passes for 364 yards. He set the school record for most touchdowns in a game. He also eclipsed several Celebration Bowl records as he won offensive MVP. He connected with receiving duo Elijah Bell and Zachary Leslie combined for 10 catches, 203 yards and three touchdowns. Aggies claim third straight HBCU title
ATLANTA — Kylil Carter passed for six touchdowns and North Carolina A&T racked up enormous offensive totals to beat Alcorn State 64-44 in the Celebration Bowl on Saturday for the Aggies’ third consecutive HBCU national championship title. Carter completed 18 of 30 passes for 364 yards, and added 96 on the ground. Korey Banks and Elijah Bell each caught a pair of scoring passes for NCA&T, which has beaten Alcorn State in three of the five Celebration Bowls — including two straight. Alcorn State quarterback Felix Harper passed for 341 yards and three scores, but the Braves trailed 24-10 at halftime and NCA&T steadily stacked points from there. The teams combined for 49 points in the third quarter, when NCA&T scored touchdowns on its first four possessions of the period and Alcorn State banked touchdowns on its first three drives. The Aggies rolled to 290 yards in the quarter, and Alcorn State added 238. “What a game,” Aggies coach Sam Washington said. “Offensively, I thought both teams played well. Defensively, not so much, ... It was very entertaining.” For the rest of the story:www.fayobserver.com/sports/20191221/kylil-carter-ncat-rout-alcorn-state-in-celebration-bowl

I love this quote from E. Bell on winning the National Black Championship and putting FAMU in their place
..... "When you play with no pressure, it’s easy to win. There’s always pressure on us, and we perform under pressure. We’re the best HBCU in the country.” E. Bell

NC A&T dominates Alcorn State 64-44 for third straight Celebration Bowl title QB Kylil Carter and RB Jah-Maine Martin have monster games for Aggies
BY JERRY BEMBRY for THEUNDEFEATED.COM
ATLANTA — As North Carolina A&T quarterback Kylil Carter settled into his seat for the postgame news conference following his team’s wild 64-44 win over Alcorn State in the Celebration Bowl, he carefully laid out a series of massive, shiny and colorful rings.
“This is for 2017 when we were 12-0, this is from the 2018 conference championship, and here’s the 2017 MEAC championship,” Carter said, as he slowly lifted each ring up to display. “I think this is from last year, when we won the national championship.”
Saturday’s win over Alcorn State adds one more ring to the set, but it’s likely those pieces of jewelry will become secondary trinkets to the huge Most Outstanding Offensive Player Award that Carter walked away with following the football performance of his life.
