It was announced during the SWAC Hall Of Fame inductions that the MEAC has signed another 5 year deal with ESPN and the CELEBRATION BOWL. IF THAT IS TRUE, that should've been a joint announcement from all parties involved. I don't like the SWAC making announcements/proclamations on our behalf!
Did the SWAC say that they signed the 5-year deal, too??They signed!

It was announced during the SWAC Hall Of Fame inductions that the MEAC has signed another 5 year deal with ESPN and the CELEBRATION BOWL. Terms? 5 years beyond that Term details weren’t given but it was stated that ESPN is happy with bowl and there would be more financial support.

We are not Tennessee State nor Hampton. I would have to believe that our administration has an entirely plan than both of those schools. There's the old adage "iron sharpens iron." Now again no disrespect to the other member institutions, but we need to compete against the best more than just 1 or 2 games a season. Athletically, Let's be realistic a lot of the players that we graduate have a tough time making the league unfortunately because of our league. I do believe they will find you if you can play, but they are at an immediate disadvantage because of the level of competition. I'm not saying we should or could even join the ACC but a non P5 conference garners a little more respect that FCS. That alone will get you that extra look you may need. Maybe we should just reach our ceiling and be satisfied being thethe3q big fish in a little pond. No need to broaden our horizons and expand our footprint. Stay inside this neat little box. I saw a an HBCU Gameday from football season about Savannah state football getting a big win at Morehouse. They talked to some fans who said they were excited that SSU went back to SIAC because now they can travel to just about all the games. We, NCAT are a different breed of travelers, I personally attend just about every game, but if you're willing to sacrifice a potential financial windfall and more competitive athletics just to be able to drive to more games than let's just stay where we are and keep beating up on the sisters of the poor. can you "guarantee" that a&t will always be a football powerhouse? can you "guarantee" that dr. martin will always be our chancellor? these cycles don't last "forever", don't believe me ask wssu football about that. scsu by far has been the most "dominant" meac football program since the league was created, yet they're struggling now just to become relevant again. yes, we're riding high right now. but what's the guarantee it'll last forever? what's the guarantee that we won't digress just as famu has? what's the guarantee that dr. martin will always be our chancellor? no other a&t chancellor during my lifetime has prospered a&t like dr. martin has. who's to say that our next chancellor will keep it going? so we join a stronger conference, dr. martin leaves or retires, then what? Yes you correct we are riding high on our current structure. But I believe this structure and culture will lead to the correct successor in the event we need to replace one of those administrative positions. I hate to keep going back to the Broadwayism but. We're recruiting someone better than we currently have. Works the same in administration, if we need to replace anyone, we are looking for someone better than we had. When your a struggling university, first everyone applies because they're thinking, well shoot I cant do any worse than who was there previously. Not many strong leaders are in that talent pool, they tend to look for the more sure thing, oh like this A&T situation. Where the infrastructure is in place to be successful I can take the reigns hit the ground running and with a few minor adjustments here and there take this thing to the next level (not saying FBS) just make it better. The people that get those jobs at struggling institutions, wish them the best but they probably aren't even on A&Ts radar. I believe since we've built this thing the right way, it doesnt make failure impossible but, we're better suited for continued success and progression. Again we are not Tennessee State, Hampton, or FAMU (Billy Joe fired for violation of NCAA rules in 2005) havent been right since. Everyone says they do it thr right way until they dont, but I believe we are, and will continue to. We cant have this what if everything fails mindset. But again I guess we should just be happy in our little corner of the country. I personally don't want to keep this Aggie Pride to myself I think we should share it with the masses, but some believe we can do that from our little, high pedestal.

Va Finest, “We should be happy in our little corner of the country.” I really don’t understand what you’re insinuating..... “You don’t want to keep all of this Aggie Pride to yourself. I think we should share it with the masses.”
Just so we can all understand what each of us is trying to convey, if it was up to you, where would you like for A&T to be in the next 5,10, and 15 years?

IlDid you go to the SWAC Hall of Fame ceremony at the Omni? Let me double back with my source. It doesn’t matter to me what your source says I was there and have pictures to prove it, it was one of the first subjects covered before the ceremony and the entire room applauded!

Well this great news and it makes no sense why it wasn’t sent out to outlets via a press release. That’s unless the MEAC president haven’t come to agreement yet.

i think its good if the cb has been renewed. shoot, you wouldn't have heard me say that 5 years ago. and i probably wouldn't be saying that right now had our aggies not won it 4 out of the 5 years of existence.
its provided great national "pr" for a&t, so its been very beneficial for us. not so much for the rest of the conference and i suspect if we were in their positions, i'd still be crying bloody foul relative to the cb...

I'm hoping that the contract is renewed and renewed soon, but this is really fishy.
I'm not arguing that this was not said at the SWAC event. But I'm wondering if all of the T's haven't been crossed yet. There is no way that ESPN Events would not issue a joint release on this...no way.
So, in my opinion, either the SWAC jumped-the-gun or this is wishful thinking by the SWAC and it's not a "done deal," yet.

well, for what its worth, i just checked the cb website and they already have cb 2020 tickets on "pre-sale" ( www.thecelebrationbowl.com/tickets/ticket-presale/). don't know if that means the contract has been renewed or not, but it does seem they're anticipating that it will be renewed if it hasn't already been...

There never was a big rush to renew. Folks were just hoping that the renewal announcement will be made during 2019 Celebration Bowl Weekend or shortly thereafter. This game is really growing and we want to keep the momentum going.
