SC STATE FOOTBALL: Rattlers edge Bulldogs in wild 42-38 MEAC contest
S.C. State running back Omar Cummings gains yards against the defense of Florida A&M University in the second half of Saturday's game in Orangeburg.

History was made in Saturday's South Carolina State home football game against Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference rival Florida A&M, but it wasn't the history most Bulldog fans expected.
Instead of a win by the home team keeping SC State unbeaten in the MEAC and giving Buddy Pough the all-time wins record coaching the Bulldogs, it was the Rattlers passing for 427 yards and totaling 505 yards of offense in a 42-38 road win.
SC State had the ball for a final drive in the final minute of play, but couldn't convert a first down late to keep the drive moving.

In just its second home game this season, North Carolina Central didn’t put on the Thursday prime time show they hoped for.
The Eagles struggled to score touchdowns early in the season, and the offense went missing in action in the red zone once again as Bethune-Cookman defeated NCCU, 27-13, Thursday night at O-Kelly-Riddick Stadium. N.C. Central outgained the Wildcats 391-243, had more rushing yards (141-150) and two sacks, but couldn’t get the advantage where it mattered most.
“We didn’t win in one statistic,” Eagles’ coach Trei Oliver said. “Score.”
