It's not the picture, the picture is great, but alone it's without context of the situation. The question still on the table is Would they have done that if the score had been reversed or if that TD had put us within a FG of the score? If not, then it's a meaningless TD! Should we now celebrate every player's 1st TD with a pose and picture, maybe they should carried off the field on the shoulders of the other players as the band plays on, better yet maybe we should stop the game and introduce all his family members at the game. No, No, No, wait, wait, I got it, we should stop the game and have Dr. Martin come down sign and date the ball. Though I don't think this is a big deal, I also don't see how it's OK.

I think that the context that Lena alluded is everything as far as this picture was concerned. And while kids will make mistakes, I think they understood the context of what it meant for Jalen right then more than we'll ever know. As grown-ups (and parents), our need to know everything about our kids' lives at the formative ages is paramount. But in terms of this environment... we can't understand everything that we see. Not unless you're consistently in communication with the kids or have a keen sense of being able to put yourself in someone else's shoes based on observation. So if we're basing things strictly on norms from when we grew up, we won't be wrong... but we won't be accurate in terms of the context our kids live in today. The bigger challenge is not the kids seeing our context... it's us seeing THEIR context. And if you can see their context... you're much more likely to get them to see your context as interactions arise. Context is everything.

Hi. Person who took that wonderful picture here and long time reader, first time poster. Just came to say the celebration was for Jalen Fowler’s first TD. So while it looked like they were being cocky or not humble by celebrating a “meaningless” touchdown, it wasn’t meaningless at all. It was an important moment for him and i’m glad I was able to capture it (: Thank you for capturing that picture.

So while it looked like they were being cocky or not humble by celebrating a “meaningless” touchdown, it wasn’t meaningless at all. It was an important moment for him and i’m glad I was able to capture it (: I kinda had a feeling it was something like that. That’s why I said the following: When I saw the team run to the end zone and pose for this picture I groaned and thought somebody on the field should've taken a leadership role and dissuaded them from that behavior. At the very least they could've pulled the guys to the sidelines and posed there. I’ll be blunt: in my pointless and unsolicited opinion the qb should’ve said “let’s head to the sideline guys and take this picture.” I wouldn’t have any problem with it personally if it happened there. In the end zone immediately after scoring a fiftieth something point is classless no matter the situation unless the other team has 49 or it’s a game winner. To allow it to happen as the on the field leader was poor judgment imo. How many other players have gotten this special treatment? How many even need it? I tell my kids act like you’ve been there before and I expect that of them. Hopefully we will too. FYI, EVERY time we scored over 50 under Coach Hayes we lost to the same team the very next year and that was without a bulletin board picture of us posing in the opponent’s end zone. I would say there’s a fine line between humility and arrogance, but there isn’t. And there’s nothing admirable about arrogance.

Again I say "there is know right or wrong here it depends on which side of the fence your on . Me I was trained in the "you act like you have been there " model but Athletes to day from Pee Wee to the pro's are into that Express Yourself model so I can understand there actions . Let's cool off and sit back and see how Coach Washington and his staff handles the situation . As long as something like this does not cost A&T a game I'll stand with the coaches decision .

At this point it’s not really how they handle the situation cause we know it won’t happen again. It’s just talking about the situation that took place and discussing opinions of it. Keeping in mind of course that our opinions don’t matter, but if we don’t express them and discuss from time to time we don’t have much need for fan board. Of course I’m sure there are some that would be perfectly ok with that

I don't think the coach was that excited. I'm sure he is glad it didn't happen in the first quarter. He would still be preaching about that penalty. He wants Jalen to learn how to play his position. Celebrations may be fun, but class is even more fun. It is a sign that you belong and are deserving of accolades and rankings.

first off thank you Lena, I don't think people understand the dedication and all the effort you put into Aggie Football. Second I'm pretty sure they ran for that pic on Monday and the players knew that consequence going into it. Coach Wash didn't just let this one slide. You all relax The picture was worth it and very exciting.

Last year, you had the head coach on video dancing and saying bring me my money! This was much less offensive, let's move on. SMH

i think i'm "kinda" ok with the pic because as gator previously stated, there was no "taunting" involved to try and embarrass the opponent. i don't recall seeing it on espn3, but if all they did was "pose" for a couple of seconds without disrespecting or "taunting" the opponent, then i'm okay with it.
now if they'd done like the buzzards did at our place years ago, "stomping and spitting" on our midfield logo, i would've been completely "outraged". but that's not the issue in this case. however, i think coach dancing in the ecu locker room is different too, that was "away" from the general public in the privacy of the locker room and coach had no idea that someone was recording that moment to post on social media...
