Just in case yall didn't have enough to debate about this week, there is a new hashtag on twitter that has ignited a civil war among current A&T students and A&T alums. I believe the hashtag was started by the current SGA president ... but dont quote me on that. twitter.com/search?q=%23MakeNCATGhettoAgain&src=typeahead_click

The students don't seem to understand that alums are simply against the use of ghetto, no one is against them trying to bring fun back to the campus that previous classes have had. They could of used Lit, fun, crazy, etc, why they thought ghetto was a good choice is beyond me.

Sounds like the students have dug in their heels on this one.
They said Ghetto and they meant Ghetto.

Let something negative happen during homecoming and this hashtag issue will be ALL over media.

STUPID! How long have we been trying to move away from that "party school" nonsense?

Both sides are annoying but have points. A&T was never ghetto. Yes, it was in the ghetto, but never ghetto. And maybe the students are a lil dry now, I do not know. If anything I would describe A&T as country. Either way folks have way too much time on their hands. And better more pressing issues exist. The SGA president is showing her youth, this is what she is choosing to fall on her sword for....ok. She sits in BOG meetings.

Let something negative happen during homecoming and this hastag issue will be ALL over media. Why do I have this sinking feeling that a major impending public embarrassment is just waiting in the wings?

Chancellor Martin, you might want to get in front of this one.
Just a heads up ...

Those tweets surmise the current feelings behind this hashtag.
Basically, this will fade by October 1.

This makes my head hurt lol.
Hopefully some alumni join in on social media showing their support behind the actual idea of the youngins while using a much improved hashtag that alumni like and stick with overpowering the current hashtag. Some reverse psychology is needed as oppose to arguing back and forth making us appear even worse "more ghetto" lol
I'm sure we agree with their original intention as we've had lengthy discussions about our dry athletic event experiences and lack of identity with the marching bands song selections in the stands for crowd participation.

If she wanted ghetto central’s only 45 minutes up the road.
This is what it’s come to huh? No thesaurus anywhere on campus. Just throw ghetto and A&T in the same sentence, but she’ll be the very first one to be angry when somebody says her school is ghetto.
Don’t be mad sis, you wanted it that way.

Both sides are annoying but have points. A&T was never ghetto. Yes, it was in the ghetto, but never ghetto. i don't agree with that. east market street ain't the "ghetto", never has been since i was a freshman at a&t. yes, east market is in the "hood". but east market is a far cry from being in the "ghetto". look, if ya'll have never seen what a "real" ghetto looks like, then rent me a "bullet proof" vehicle and i'll drive you to some neighborhoods in dc and baltimore that'll make you pyss in your pants at night if you're not properly protected...

I think the bigger point is perspective, when I was at A&T the neighborhood that split campus could be defined as ghetto or hood. But this gets to a larger point and how the word is being used.
