Well you heard from fans, a former athlete and now I will give you a parent point of view. I have been on this borard for 5 years and it has been hard at times. I had to develop thickskin as one poster stated. It is hard to hear someone bash your child when they do not know the whole story. People question if you are really hurt with kidney stones when you had a subpar game and the Wednesday before the game you sitting in the ER pissing blood and not know what is going on with your body. The doctor told him he may not play and the first thing he said is he is going to play at ALL cost. You sit in the stands with all the Saturday QB's yelling why did you make that throw, the other guy was open and why didn't you see the tight end. I am always quickly reminded that it is totally different when you are on the field. I look at things differently now especially when other QB's are playing. I sat in the stands Saturday while Carter was playing and was glad that stage of my life was over. I told people around me Carter is going to be ok and he would rally his team to victory as he did. Lamar has alot of passion for the game he loves and to have it cut off without a chance to continue has bothered him. We know God has a plan for him. Some words he used to express his feelings I did not care for but what he meant I totally agree with. It has been a good ride and I have really enjoyed the friends I have made over the five years. Alot of people are lurking on this site including coaches. They see things that are written about them. I have thicker skin now because lord knows I wanted to take a few of you to the wood shed. Lol!

Some fans are impatient, finicky, bandwagon and ready to jump ship at the first sign of adversity, but there's also some players who want all the praise when they're balling and no criticism when they're playing bad. Then when fans speak on that bad play, they get called fake fans or they're bashing players, etc. There's unrealistic expectations by some on both sides in my opinion.

Wow, what a thread! I was buried at work the last two days. It hasn't been this kind of chatter since the "Foobs Error". Thank you LR7. A little over the top (Dooms did you edit his post?), but welcome to the fan side of athletics. It only gets better, but don't limit your opinions. It really get heated when the discussion turns to the turf at Aggie Stadium. Sorry, meant BB&T, that's another hot button issue. One dude went off about the scoreboard at War Memorial, that was truly epic. Dude had pictures and everything. This is the A&T Fan Forum (all things A&T good or bad), a giant barber shop, except everyday is Saturday. People come and people go, please stay and share.
BTW: The greatest all-time quarterback is Leonard "The Snake" Reliford (just a fan's opinion). Man, I used to call for Hornsby head, when he would take out Snake and but in Paul McKibbins. Everybody knew McKibbins should have been playing receiver.

We go on this board in support of and because we love our school. Some of us have never played but most of us have watched a helluva lot of football over a 20, 30, 40 or even 50 year period. This board generates interest and fans have opinions which may be valid or simply a subjective observation. Raynard has an opinion but based upon his criteria, one could suggest that since he did not play at a major college level or in the pros his opinion has less validity. I've never met the young man but have read his posts on Twitter and he seems to be a fine young fellow. The key point is not about football but that we ought to pull his coattail and suggest that he present himself in a positive light and not put a funky post on the internet that will follow him forever. Raynard was a helluva quarterback and I thought had the physical tools to play at the next level. Problem is and this is just my opinion, he did not put up gaudy enough numbers to attract the attention a small school quarterback needs. As good as he was, I don't know that he is the GOAT at A&T. I may be biased and missed a lot of years of A&T football over the past 40 years but Elsworth Turner was the best QB I ever watched live at A&T. I still remember our Dwayne Board, Ragsdale, Feaster, Lonnie Harris and Elsworth squad beating Harry Carson, Nate Rivers and SC State back in 1975. They only played 10 games back then in less than pristine conditions, so it's hard comparing players of different eras. With Wheeler Brown protecting Turner's blindside. I'm just saying

So far on this thread we've gotten input from a former A&T starting QB, a former A&T QB's dad, a former A&T athletic director, a former presidential candidate, some A&T football historians, and a host of regular misfits who are just enjoying the fireworks.
This is why BDV.com is the greatest fan site ever created. lol

In regards to the title of this thread: that was a "perfectly" executed play, and i mean "all 11" players...

I actually saw that same play used for a 2 point conversion by someone else. Cant remember the game I was watching. The DBs didnt' play it right then either, LOL. It happens so fast.

I had NO idea Raynard was only 20 yards from breaking Alan Hooker's school career yardage record. I wish we could've found them yards somewhere.

Bell just missed on a long TD pass on the 2nd drive after we went up 7-0. But Lamar played for the Ws, not the records. And that's one of the reasons why he's the A&T GOAT at the QB position.

Paul threw a short pass with just as much velocity as he would the long ball you had to have hands to catch Paul's passes...lol . I hand hands but Hornsby hated my guts along with that Dick Grooms . Reliford always throw a sweet catchable ball nice tight sparrow with touch . Reliford was a speed receivers dream. I caught passes from both of them Reliford had his strengths and Paul had his . As for calling for Hornsby's head you where not along . Face screwed over a lot of good athletes with his BS politics . My Bad it is not appropriate to speak negatively of the Dead . But Reliford was a good one .

I'm just saying Aw, you're right, Ellsworth who was brought to A&T by Asst. Basketball Coach Sutton was truly the best from your era up through this era. Now Mr. 4X, what about Mr. Hightop shoes, Jacobs, who would launch a bomb on any turnover. There were great QBs in the late fifties and into the early to mid- sixties. So ranking quarterbacks would require having seen them perform during those periods. However, Lamar Raynard's record speaks volumes for him. He has a right to be angry. Remember the threads that called for him to be benched or the ones that pitted Raynard vs Carter. He decided to give all of his critics a dose of their own medicine. Some seem to have been offended. He had a right to speak his mind. His relative spoke about how it affected Raynard but also hurt him while at games. However, I hope his relative will tell him that most all of the people were his biggest supporters, and advise him that whatever one post on social media will follow you for a life time. It becomes a permanent record that can be used against him. He just needs to use more appropriate words or language in his future writings.
