Just getting back to the hotel. My two cents quickly before I head back out...
I'm thinking maybe Mac didn't play due to the wet turf. I don't know this for sure, though.
As sad as is to say, officiating was worse than MEAC officiating.
As bad as it seemed in the 1st half, to travel 4.5 hours after the Duke letdown & EARN a comeback win on the road is to be commended.
I mostly refrain from bashing the coaching decisions but why in the hail did they call that QB keeper late in the 4th?!
The O-line stepped up in the 2nd half. The blocking on Martin's 1st TD was fantastic.
Coach Broadway was in the stands. He had to be smiling internally watching us run the ball, stop the run & win the kicking game. We do chicken.
Time to go out and celebrate... until tomorrow...

Martin runs for 299 yards, 2 long TDs in NC A&T's 27-21 win
AP Sep 14, 2019
CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) Jah-Maine Martin ran for a career-high 299 yards including two long touchdown runs and North Carolina A&T scored 21 points in the fourth quarter in beating Charleston Southern 27-21 on Saturday night.
Martin found a gap on the right side and broke tackles on his way to a 76-yard score that gave the Aggies (2-1) a 27-14 lead with 5 1/2 minutes to go. The Buccaneers scored with about 3 1/2 minutes left but Martin had runs of 13 and 33 yards to help FCS-ranked North Carolina A&T retain possession.
Martin carried 25 times, including an 84-yard scoring run a minute into the fourth quarter with a 2-point conversion tying the game at 14. Noel Ruiz then added his third and fourth field goals of the night.
Elijah Bell had 77 yards receiving for 2,347 for an Aggies career record, passing Herbert Harbison.
Kameron Brown had 110 yards receiving on nine catches, including two for touchdowns, for Charleston Southern (0-3).

Do you remember how Broadway would change offensive coordinators every season? Is it time for Washington to consider that?

Its painfully obvious we need an new OC. We have way too much talent to be having 6 pts at half against a big south school. I dont claim to be an expert on x and os but i know enough to see that our offense in all 3 games is very primitive. HELL even last year. So much i know the plays before they even start. And if I know the play and the target (looks like he only knows 1) then certainly any coaching staff would know. Its a disservice and can effect recruiting.

Barnette didn't call a good game last night but I see no need to change at this point. Part of our problems was also poor execution by the players up until the fourth quarter.

What happened to the other team's qb? Did i miss him getting hurt or did they just decide to bench him?

It looked like they benched him after the two fourth quarter interceptions.

If you're a sabremetrics guy, between Barnette's scheme and QB decisions of where he is throwing, we cant possibly utilize the center third of the field more 5% of pass plays since Chip Hester left.
If I'm a DC for an opposing team my gameplan after watching film would be to play outside leverage the entire game and essentially disregard the middle third for pass defense.
Ot just seems like we are limiting ourselves and becoming more predictable by only using the outside 2/3 of the field.
What worked in our favor to close out the game was the fact we went against our tendencies and conventional wisdom when we threw the two completions to Leslie, and how wide open was he (on a slant none the less, Thank you OC) and Bell, on his standard 8yd out then draft defender for a couple more.
We could almost call 3 slants/dig routes consecutively and they would all be open because no DC we face would think we would ever go there multiple times a game.
I'd like to see us try that
I'd a defense goes single high safety we need to have built in checks to combo routes where Leslie or Banks can occupy the safety and left Bell work the middle and get yards after catch, you can put man in motion to determine if the safety is shading to Bells side or not then run the combo route accordingly.
Luckily we have a few extra days to reassess of game plan and personnel and how to maximize their effectiveness.

I sat at the Duke game and said this almost verbatim. "If I was a DC I would play zone with outside leverage and force A&T to make throws across the middle." What we had been taking advantage of offensively is that most teams play a lot of man now. Zones still work and CS showed us that they will work against us. They played every DB 8 yards back and dared us to throw(AND CATCH) slants/posts. Leslie and Carter have to get a better groove like Leslie had with Raynard.

Those quick slants will kill those defenses. We just have to practice and know when to call them.

Well, now that we’ve beaten Charleston Southern, I hope that their coach wins the rest of their games.
