These are the kind of questions that should be asked at the weekly post game luncheon. Someone who knows what they talking about and can name players. Great Job excellent. I was a little surprise he did not mention Stanback nor Prestige nor Stephen Davis, Jr. (replacement MLB you mention) I am not a fan of Tre Small he does not have the length and the size to replace DJ. I am hoping Stanback will get some playing time. trues, if you had your way the whole team would be 6'8" tall at every position. lol now that you mention it we dont have not one 6'6 - 6'8 OL. This is killing me. ELON has three 75 Cooper Cromer OL 6-6 298 78 Mike Barone OL 6-7 305 72 Karl Hofmeister OL 6-6 300 Duke 60 OT 6-7 280 Excellent size 76 OT 6-6 340 79 OT 6-7 300 77 OT 6-7 300 79 OT 6-7 300

i've always been a tre smalls fan, but i thought he'd turnout to be a linebacker which is the position he played in high school. he may not be another darryl johnson, but dude could flatout "fly" in high school. ran a 4.5 forty and that's gettin' it! that's darn good "speed" to be coming off the edge.
i dunno. if coach washington says he's dj without the "length", then i'll take his word for it...

He does have some very long arms. Like he should be 6”4 or so. But I am with you if Washington says he gone surprise some folks I am good. I think staff knows he is not DJ and will probably adjust to a style that suits his abilities.

Jacksonville State also had some big and tall guys too, along with Alcorn State. Lastly, when they were FCS, App State also had some "undersized" linemen and did nothing but beat Michigan and win national titles.

I THINK DJ had his strip Sack against a Big Old Lineman from JSU last year.

Parker has very quick feet and learned how to use his hands. It's not like you can sneeze at the size we have on our OL. Hey don't take my word for it go look at game film he is no DJ. I wonder will Stanback get any playing time on that right side?

For the last time, there are not a lot of 6'7 people walking planet earth. Go to the mall or Walmart and let me know how many 6'7 people you see.
If you expect to get a bunch of them to play for your FCS college football team every year, you are gonna be consistently disappointed.

BlueDeathValley.com: As you look back to 2018, what do you think you learned most about yourself and what were some of the main things that you took away from your first season as head coach?
Coach Washington: “Don’t take anything for granted. Every play is important and every decision that you make is important. I learned that because, honestly, the two games that we lost last season, they haunt me. One with two seconds left on the clock and one with four seconds left on the clock. So, you know, we were six seconds from being undefeated for the second year in a row. And really, I have no one to blame but me. I think I allowed us to get a little too big for our britches, so to speak. We started smelling ourselves instead of doing what we needed to do to be successful.”

My question is how many more losses will it take for him to figure out how to get his players to show up and play every game. When he does that we will be ready to play the big boys and win.
