Do y'all like us playing them so early in the season...or would you think that it would be better to play them around mid-December, after we've gotten a few games under our belts?

....it matters. Hopefully, we can play High Point and Elon in the future as well. I’m just glad we’re playing them. I learned a lot more about the skill of our team last year playing UNCG upfront than I did watching them play Mid-Atlantic Christian. It’s only one game, but a win or competitive loss could immediately get the team in the mindset that they can beat virtually anyone on the schedule. It should be a competitive game with a festive crowd in the coliseum...

It’s always ironic to me that the coliseum is THEIR home court. It was our home court for 6 years after we out grew Moore Gym and before Corbett.
Don’t get me wrong, I like our games in Corbett. I just don’t like that THEY get the recruiting and scheduling benefits of playing at the coliseum in today’s world of college sports, declaring themselves “Greensboro’s Team”. Beat dey azz.

Do y'all like us playing them so early in the season...or would you think that it would be better to play them around mid-December, after we've gotten a few games under our belts? Last year was tough because we came in with only 4 scholarship players that played the year before and UNC-G returned 10 guys. This year, we return 6 scholarship players who played and 6-8 F/C Devin Haygood (arguably the best player in the program) who was sitting out from Youngstown St. UNC-G has the younger Langley twins and 6-8 Dericko Williams (all 3-stars) to go along with 6-9 C James Dickey, 6-8 F Kyrin Galloway and 6-2 G Isaiah Miller (the one that dunked all over us). It's why getting a former 3-star talent like combo G Tyler Maye to pair with Kam Langley and Andre Jackson is so big for us in an early season matchup. Given the continuity they had, the UNC-G game shouldn't have been as close as it was. We had our chances to win. Kam didn't have a good game. Ron Jackson and Ty Lyons gave us 2 pts in 20 minutes. I don't think Devin will play scared against Dickey. And I think RJ and Ty give us a lot more out the gate this time. Also... the coaching staff is staying the same for the first time under Coach Joyner. That continuity matters. After 39 wins in 2 seasons, we shouldn't be scared of the stage out the gate. We're a good program and we should accept the challenges out the gate, if we expect to be a champion. I believe it's time.

Well... they're paying rent for it since they don't have football. So there's that. But TBH... it's not that great of a home-court advantage because their attendance isn't that great. We'll easily be one of their biggest draws (if not the biggest) this year. And their students actually did a good job of turning out at Corbett, so I'm not mad at them. It's a good rivalry. And it's definitely a winnable game for us at the Coliseum.

I didn't like the idea of A&T playing uncg for the first game of the season last year. I don't think it is a good idea this season. A&T is playing for the keys to this region. The uncg team has proclaimed that Greensboro is their city. It was our city for many years. We gave up that mantle years ago by having too many mediocre coaches and teams. We want to reclaim it. We can't afford to lose to our backyard neighbor, because of the importance of recruiting and respect. Before putting a semi-rebuilding team on the floor against a seasoned foe, I believe the team and the coach need some games under their belts. If A&T must play this team, do it later in the season when the team has developed experience and chemistry.

If A&T must play this team, do it later in the season when the team has developed experience and chemistry. I'll say this based on summer workouts... there's a lot more chemistry and a clearer pecking order to this squad than last year's group. The most important thing was Tyler Maye being here for the entire 2nd session. Tyler is cat-quick on both ends, has long arms and has a high hoops IQ. He didn't work out at VCU because he's not a super-vertical athlete, but his game works perfect for us. He gives us 20 minutes of high-caliber 2-way play at the 2 and can back up the 1 for 10 minutes for Kam during the OOC schedule. That's big because we'll only have a limited drop-off at the 1 when Kam's not on the floor. That wasn't the case last year. The other thing.... Kam and Andre Jackson are substantially better and more physical. Like post-season... these early OOC games are mostly about guard play. But you will want to get acquainted with Devin Haygood, the 6-8 light-skinned cat that's been in the program for a year already. He's going to be hanging on the rim a bunch this season. I expect us to take this game.

Has there been any sightings of Kwe Parker on campus and what is the prospect for the big Scottish kid Morrice! In my opinion Maye and the freshman need to push Langley whose point guard play is mediocre at best. He is a decent player but he played the most minutes (28 per game) and only averaged 7.1 points (the 6 assists were ok). More importantly, he only shot 56 % from the free throw line and a horrible 28 % from beyond the arc. If your point guard is not threat from three in today's college game and cannot make free throws, you can't win close games or beat good teams. Hopefully, he is working on this part of his game. My understanding is Maye is a great shooter.
