Top MEAC RBs 2019: NCAT’s Jah-Maine Martin Martin is shaping up to be the next top A&T running back in 2019. By Stephen-Michael Thompson Jr Posted on June 27, 2019
Although MEAC offenses have opened up lately, the running back position is still strong. From running between the tackles and cutting in open space, the role of a back in the MEAC is still a vital one in 2019. As we’ve seen, if one’s RB depth isn’t solid in this conference; winning will be tougher. Speaking of winning, North Carolina A&T has been doing alot of that. And besides winning MEAC Championships and Celebration Bowl titles, another consistent aspect of the Aggies’ recent reign of dominance is their running back play. From Mike Mayhew, Tarik Cohen, and Marquell Cartwright; the Aggies RB lineage is something worth noting. Since 2010, they’ve had an RB land in the Top-5 for rushing and have had the leading rusher since 2013. No. 2: NC A&T’s Jah-Maine Martin
Jah-Maine Martin is second on our list and is next up for the Aggies. The Coastal Carlina transfer had a good season while backing up Cartwright last season. Martin gained nearly 700 yards on the ground and scored seven touchdowns in the process on just under 100 carries. He started the season well but a 67-yard rushing touchdown against Bethune-Cookman in October was a statement. He gained 118 yards that game and later went on to rush for 130 yards the next week against Norfolk State. They haven't revealed it yet but if I had to guess, then it would be the Kid from central. He is pretty good. I forget his name but I believe his number is 25.

Isiah Totten from central but we bottled him up big time last year....maybe the transfer from Oregon is #1 but he got hurt early last year...

looking for big things from our rb position starting with martin but we've got a ton of depth at that position, should be able to keep our rb "fresh" throughout every game. if carter stays healthy and if our o-line comes thru, i honestly think that our offense will be even more "explosive" this year than years past. and yes, i know that says a lot but i honestly believe that...

we will rush for well over 2000 yards this year. could we possibly have 2 1000 yard rushers? If we have a decent passing game! I'm still nervous about who will show up at QB and how they will perform. I would be 100% behind Carter but I don't know how all those injuries will impact his running or passing skills this season. And I haven't heard any great scouting reports on the other QBs. So if we don't have a QB that can pass and keep the defenses honest, they will just put 8 in the box and clog up our running game. I'm not saying that will happen but it's something I'm worried about until the first game!

Worked for Morgan.
It’s something I’d assume we can expect to see every game until we prove we’ll score on you consistently if you keep it up. Every coach in the conference know we want to run and stop the run.

Last season, Morgan State placed 8 in the box against us while we had arguably our best QB of all time under center. We all know how that turned out... That being typed, despite any uncertainty regarding our OL and/or QB, yes, anyone who loads the box against us will abandon that plan quickly!

Our Oline was a work in progress last year True about Morgan but Raynard was not firing on all cylinders during that stretch of the season. Probably should been chilling since he was suffering with Kidney Stones and kinda off his game

Every coach in the conference know we want to run and stop the run. Morgan didn't do anything special against us last year . They just played Gap assignment football there LB did very little blitzing . Raynard was just off his game no excuses . The thing that makes a good team GREAT is when they know your going to do something and you do it anyway and move the ball . So let them load up the box , then we will see what type of line play we really have . The team that worry's me is Elon not MSU or FAMU .

Speaking of Elon, the Phoenix is going to be paying their football team FCOA.
