I was reluctant to post this but decided to add my two cents. Hero Sports didn't list us at all in their pre-season top-25. It is no dispute that we are in the 'Celebration Bowl or bust' era. As far as national respect goes, it is earned. We win on the field, poll voters will notice. herosports.com/fcs/football-2019-hero-sports-preseason-top-25-fcs-ajajALSO KEEPING OUR EYE ON: FAMU, Mercer, Montana, North Dakota, San Diego, South Dakota, Villanova

We didn’t even receive an honorable mention. SMH...

Hero usually ranks us higher than anybody. Their whole writeup of Alcorn was basically about us.
We did lose a lot guys, and even with the studs we had last year we managed to lose two games at home. We just have to try and prove the program is in full reload status akin to NDSU.

Mentioned us here, but didnt even say we would make the CB. They said look out for FAMU who cant even go, SMH. Tells you how much they pay attention to the MEAC
"21. ALCORN STATE Ahead of two-time HBCU national champion North Carolina A&T? Yes sir, Alcorn State is this year. That's not a knock on NCA&T, that just tells you where the Braves stand this year. They're loaded under head coach Fred McNair"

I disagree. Saying FAMU is a team to look out for in the conference and saying they'll go to the CB are two different issues. They can win the conference (they did beat us and were a lock to go until they slid like crazy down the stretch) and merit a top 25 ranking at the end of the season without going to the CB after all.
Hero Sports is probably the most knowledgeable and in depth website about FCS and hbcu sports I've seen in the past few years. They're knowledgeable enough to know the stuff I pointed out a page ago is a lot to overcome.
We graduated the winningest class in school history this past year. We lost two conference games last year and got plowed by Alcorn in the CB. When's Mac McCain gonna be back? Who will be our qb? Who's stopping the run? Who's run blocking? How much EXPERIENCE do these cats have?
We weren't exactly blowing people out and getting backups a ton of experience last year to justify some high pre-season ranking. I just don't really understand the upset.
They have Elon at 12th. We beat them and conversation is over. We lose and conversation is over.

Beating Elon will help with the ranking. Losing back to back games to Elon & Duke...... the dropoff will be real. I have faith our guys will be ready to rock come August

This is a big year since we loss so many to graduation. If we clock Elon and maybe lose 1 game. The world is put on notice that we really do chicken year in and year out regardless of who is wearing the blue & gold. As a comparison NDSU really does chicken, buffalo or whatever since they are consistent regardless of who graduated and who has on the green & yellow..
i think it much easier for NDSU as they can constantly get the skill set of player they want year in and year out just be shaking the same North / South Dakota, Minnesota tree. For us we are getting higher quality recruits right off the bat but we will have to take advantage of our strengths which could change every year or so. The strength of the 2019 team in my opinion will be the ability to score fast and often.

All things at NDSU start with the linemen ; they then build there skill positions around them as needed with Players that fit there system . They have a big presence in Florida Texas and California when it comes to recruiting skill players .

Agree with you a 100% and all the majority of lineman come from Dakotas, Nebraska, and Minnesota.

In fact, the more I objectively think about things, it's all going to come down to whether or not Carter or Ifedi can drive the Ferrari. With a full year under his belt as the OC, Barnette should have the chance to not only fully install his offense, but work readily with the QBs. In fact, looking at the spring tape again, Ifedi showed growth and according to Aggie One, Carter grabbed full control of the offense. Overall, I trust our Chicken Shack.

Biggest conference games in 2019 FCS season MEAC Biggest: North Carolina A&T at Florida A&M (Oct. 19) Florida A&M pulled a road win over N.C. A&T last season and could be just as strong as the MEAC power this season. The disclaimer here is Florida A&M is ineligible for the postseason. Three More Big Games: Howard at North Carolina A&T (Oct. 26), South Carolina State at Bethune-Cookman (Oct. 26) and Bethune-Cookman at North Carolina A&T (Nov. 16) For the rest of the story: www.fcs.football/cfb/story.asp?i=20190613122153752484004

Folks we are paying the price for being in a conference that doesn't get respect because of out of conference performance. We can help ourselves by beating Elon and playing respectfully vs Duke but it would also help if other MEAC teams would win an occasional out of conference game.

We never get respect from those publications, which is okay! We just need to pound ELON to send a message that their rankings are not credible, as usual!

elon is a very "key" game for us. it will set the tone for the rest of our season and we certainly don't wanna go into the duke game with a season opening loss. i'm glad we're playing elon in greensboro but its still gonna be a very difficult game.
we really need to get off to a good start with a win over elon, it'll give us confidence heading into the duke game and it'll give us some "cushion" record wise should we lose to duke. i much rather be 1-1 than 0-2, but 2-0 would be a lot better...
